Do you eat when you're hungry?

Or do you only eat at specified times? I have heard doctors say that many people get the feeling of being hungry a few hours after they eat but they should drink something instead. I usually only eat when I remember to eat, haha! I also always wait until my husband is home from work which can range from 6pm to 11:30pm depending on what time he started work that day.

I usually eat when my son is hungry. Lately he has been really picky and mostly only nibbles at breaky time and munches big time at lunch, then nibbles again at dinner. We don't have a set time but I do try to make sure he gets at least 3 meals, if not at least one big meal during the day and nibbles throughout. He has been eating lots of pasta and cheese lately , so not sure what is up with that LOL It's almost six pm and I haven't started on dinner yet I better get going as my tummy is rumbling!

You're asking the wrong person my dear, I'm having my already made salad with chicken and my son wants the hamburger helper with mince, so I'm about to make that. LOL not interesting at all!

That sounds much better than what I attempted to make last night, lol! I found this recipe online for macaroni & cheese with a can of cambpells cheesy soup. I used some "special" whole grain noodles that my mother in law gave me. That was about the most disgusting dish I have ever made, haha! My husband said he liked it but anything with cheese is good to him...anyway, my brother in law came over and we ended up ordering pizza.

When you mainly eat 3 times a day the chances of getting disease is high. Eating twice a day is inevitable. Practicing to take food one time you become a YOGI. There are people starving to get food even once exist.

Yes there are many people who cannot even have one meal and that is one reason why I am a vegetarian.

Hello Amstardam!:-) I only eat when I am hungry otherwise it's not good for many types of health especially for a man. When my family is not around, I don't feel like eating as is the case these days. I usually eat once per day or some times twice. It would be when I am feeling hungry. But, I try to give a gap of at least five hours, if I need to eat again. Normally 4 hours are required by the body to fully digest a meal, so there should be an interval of 4 hours or more between two meals. When my family is around, I feel like eating many times. So, I have to be careful then but still I would eat a lot in this case. I try to avoid frequent meals, that is only when there is a need, by tea or water and such.

This is the beauty of human beings that they can react differently in same situation, isn't it? I hope that you eat well at the reunion. Eating well and over eating are two different things. So go ahead:-)

Hi Kamran! I haven't heard about the 4 hour rule. That's a good standard to live by. I think I eat more when my family isn't around...I just get too bored, lol! :) My family is having a big reunion in a different state starting tomorrow...I have to be careful what I eat! Although, I'm the only vegetarian in my family and they don't know much about being a veghead. They still think I only eat lettuce and carrots! haha. So maybe I won't have a problem with overeating!!

My fiance and I both have the problem of forgetting to eat, especially when we are working on some sort of project. Yesterday, I completely forgot to eat lunch until about 3 in the afternoon! At the same time, however, we're both the type of people who have really fast metabolisms, so we often eat a whole bunch of small meals throughout the day. I keep snacks in my desk drawer for those days when my energy really flags midway through the morning or afternoon, and I can't get away from my desk for a walk or a breath of fresh air (which would help with my energy).

It's said that eating many small meals a day is better for you than 3 big ones. I usually eat two small ones. Keeping snacks in a drawer is a good idea, especially if they're healthy. It will keep you from running to a vending machine or gas station and buying some junk food!

My work is not office based that's why my eating pattern is so erratic. Sometimes I eat breakfast as early as 7am, sometimes I eat my first meal at noon already. But usually, I eat around 9am just before leaving the house. The next meal is around 1 to 2 pm. During dinner, when I think I am not suppose to eat much, that's the time I eat a lot. Maybe because it's one meal that I enjoy much because the family is complete and no one is in a hurry.

The last week or so I could eat any time day or night. I do feel hungry about every two hours, unless I am just too busy. I remember being like you when my kids were little, and my daughter was losing weight when her baby was around 1, because there just never was time to eat, or she did not want to try with the baby trying to take the food away. I am hoping when school starts back up to be eating about every two hours something small. I will work two jobs on most days.

Ah, I have problems with my son trying to take my food away too! haha. He will only come up to me and pull himself up and try to steal my food. If it's just my husband eating, he won't do it to him. I think I need to get in the habit of eating something small every few hours. I hear it's really better for you that way.

Anything I can lay my hands on. I usually drink water only when I cant lay my hands on solid food due to time or financial constraints. And I eat all the time…whenever I am hungry. I cant tolerate hunger pangs, it gives me hunger headaches.

I have a time schedule to eat. Well not every day but on the days that I have to work, I do. I'll eat 2 or 3 times a day depending on how hungry I am.

When I wasn't a stay at home it was easier to have more of a scheduled time because of work. Work helps out a lot with that! :)

I eat at fixed times because if I eat whenever I fee hungry then I would be eating without any limits and that would make keeping my weight under control very difficult.

Hi!Well,it is better to eat at regular intervals, & your digestive system gets used to a particular routine. But there are no hard & fast rules.Sometimes , if you are really hungry, you can eat something. If you are figure conscious or scared of putting on, eat something non fattening like a SALAD, or FRUITS.Drinking water will not solve your hunger issue, but drinking a fruit juice may to a cretain extent.Life is to live & we eat to live. GOD BLESS!! www.creatingcolourfulfuture.com

They say to eat 5 smaller meals a day rather then three large ones....Me personally eat breakfast lunch and dinner and if I get hungry inbetween I will have a snack of either a banana or apple or something that will tie me over and is healthy.
