Article Sold On Constant Content... I'm Shocked!

I only joined last week after seeing a discussion about the site here, and so far I have submitted 8 articles, 2 of which were rejected, 5 that have been accepted and 1 which is awaiting approval or rejection. I have written on a variety of subjects, mostly psychological issues and parenting, and general health issues. I honestly thought it would be a long process in between writing, getting them accepted and selling articles- but I sold my very first one today. Granted, I only make $6.50 on it, but I'm sure as I build a reputation there, my quality of writing improves and I submit more and more articles, those earnings will increase. I'm just so excited, I had to share... sorry :)

Congrats to you. I don't write for those types of sites but from what I hear some people are making good money doing it. Sounds like you're off to a good start - I hope it keeps improving for you.

Thanks :) Let me know if you ever change your mind and I'll pass on the link, cause I know how fabulous a writer you are because I've read some of your stuff :) There is a lot of potential for earning, and as far as I can see, the more effort you put into it the more you can make- just like anything.

I tend to go the other route when I write articles - I either use them to promote my sites/blogs or I use them as content on my sites/blogs to earn a residual income. I figure that it can sometimes take me that long to come up with an idea for an article that I'd rather earn a long time income from it than a one time payment etc - it's a tough call :-) Having said that - I just looked at your article (from your link down below - good job) and have a question for you. Underneath it says usage, unique and full rights along with the price - now if someone was to come along and decide to pay 10 for the use of that article - does the full rights then disappear? or if they pay full rights is the article then removed from the site etc?

I'm still trying to figure out when the unique and full rights disappears, as my article sold for usage so I'm fairly certain that it can only be purchased for usage now- but hey ten bucks over and over again isn't too bad if it sells more than once :) I know that with unique and full rights, it is taken off the site after it has been sold. They are one time payments :) Some of the more established writers there have prices very different to my own, which is where the "good money" comes in. Usage might be $50, Unique $80 and Full Rights $120. But that comes with time and experience... so one day :) Just another thing I should mention, if you only want to be able to sell articles for Usage so that you can sell them again and again, you can... You just put 0 in the Unique and Full Rights fields when submitting the article, and whatever price you want in Usage. That way you an use the article however you want to, as well as use it to sell over and over again.

That is so good. I am glad to hear it. It is nice to hear from those who use sites that actually pay. Is it really easy to do? Do they give you topics to write on or do you do your own? I would love to give it a try? Writing is something I have always loved to do and wouldn't mind trying to submit some of my work and get involved in it again. If you don't mind me asking what is the site you are using?

I've sent you a pm with more details. It is very simple, all you have to be careful of is spelling and grammatical errors as they are quite picky. But they have fantastic support in their forum, and clear submission guidelines. Plus they pay international members which I found great. You can find topics people have requested under requested content once you join up. But you are also free to submit articles on any subject you like. Constant Content is the site and it is fantastic.

Well that's what I was looking for too- something to kill some time (other than cleaning and looking after my son whilst I'm pregnant too) plus be able to write, make a bit of extra cash and have fun! Good luck with it all, and please let me know if you have any questions or anything... :)

Thank you so much for the information. I may give it a try. I am definitely going to check it out. Plus, since I am on bedrest now for the next couple weeks (due to pregnancy) it will give me something to do to hopefully help pass the time.

Congratulations. I've heard only good things about CC. I've seriously thought about writing for them, but the idea of waiting to see if someone wants to buy, and trying to figure out what articles are worth is just too much uncertainty for me. I prefer sites that pay upfront, even if you have to accept less.

As I mentioned to an earlier poster, another option is to use articles that you have published elsewhere (so no need to use your time to write anything new) and submit them for "usage" only. Even if you just sell one or two a month, it's a nice residual income, and they can be sold over and over again. There is also a guide when you are submitting your article as to rough price guides. I tend to go below what they recommend though, because I am still trying to establish myself over there. It's something to think about anyway. I wish there were more opportunities like Constant Content for Australian writers. Associated content seems great but they won't pay international members- including aussies! And the other site I've thought about is Helium, but I get mixed reviews about them! Any other writing sites you could recommend?
