Education as a commodity used to be somewhere between category one and category two of you felt you had learned something at the end of the lesson it was a good lesson. If your kid learned to read and count it was a good school. Educators though constantly hanker after category three. They would like to turn education into a trust good by stressing the mysterious and uncountable parts of it like character development rounded education good citizenships or critical thinking. There is something in this as an educator myself i tend to agree that the most important parts of education cannot be measured. It is also painly true that if someone outputs are measured will assume a goods.
