There are three category of people who write such things: 1. Those who do not have typing skill, so they use it short form 2. Those who use these short form as a style and to speed up typing. 3. Those who think that using the short form is the correct way of writing!!

This trend makes you a lazy hand. For me it's a bad practice because we tend to numeralized letters where in they have different meanings and pronunciation. We shortcut words to minimize space or lessen time but we don't think how the words will be grasp by others. There will be a tendency that we may use to it and forgeting the proper way to write words.

I think writing words in combinations with numbers or words being substituted by numbers is not at all a good practice. young people or students who use shortcuts instead of writing the extended form of the words would make them lazy and dull. in the first place, writing is about putting yourself into words and how you would be able to express fully and understandably yourself with others. in fact i am discouraging my kids and grandkids from using the shortened words in writing or even in texting because they might not be able to convey the correct message they wanted to tell others. though it is the trend nowadays but i feel it's not the proper way to teach the kids.

I find it very annoying because I have to read the number then think of the word it is supposed to mean, which takes time and why spoil our language?

Even i have noticed that ppl today are getting inclined towards acronyms, abbreviations and smileys to express themselves. this is okay in chatting site but othrwise, i donot feel its advisable to use them. why can't we write the full form? moreover, children are getting prone to spelling mistakes and confusion thus. we can't argue with them for they are justified with reasons!! For me, this trend is not good. anything , which is overdone is not good and i feel, we should all endorse proper expressions. here, i must say that myLot endorses this and acronyms are against mylot alorithym. Thank you for a responsible post.

I do not find fault with those who use numericals to substitute words. It is latest trend among youngsters especially who are logged on to the net. The use may be in accordance with the easy going nature of modern youth.

writing numericals instead of words makes the typing easier for the user. Others uses "L8ter" for later or "w8" for wait, this is true for those who frequently uses their celfones for text messaging. Sometimes it's hard to read exsecially if followed by a real number like 4 48 which reads "for forty eight". Well..its a trend nowadays making life more easier for someone or harder for those who are not used to it.
