Tonight I called my friend to see if I could come visit her tomorrow..She answers the phone and I say hi, and she says hi, and I asked her if she was going to be home tomorrow...then I hear this...."Am I going to be home tomorrow?" I am like, why does she need to ask her husband if she will be home? Then I realized it was her son that I was talking to and he was asking his dad if he was going to be home tomorrow...*laughing*..He sounded just like his mother..I asked him to have her call me and I told her what happened and she laughed....Have you ever thought you were talking to the right person but you weren't? Especially family members...

LOL. I have had the opposite happen to me. Once a friend called and she asked to speak to my mother. Gosh, I haven't lived with my mother in over 20 years.lol. This person wanted to talk to me and thought it was my son.

It wasn't a prank call, my friends son had answered the phone and he sounded like his mother, so I started to talk to him and then realized who it was..

I have done the same thing except it was mother and daughter. I can't believe how much they sounded like each other. The mother had a good laugh about it too.

LOL, It's quite funny! I do mix people sometimes, Feona1962, especially my two youngest sisters. They seem to have very similar voices. I often find myself asking something from one that was supposed to be asked from other, especially about their studies and exams and I embarrass myself over it. They tend to ridicule me over it but over time I have developed a clever method to deal with this problem;-) I try to first identify each one of them, without letting them know that I haven't yet identify them, by asking questions like what did you study today and such. Their answer gives me an idea of who I am talking too, so I save my self from embarrassment. But, they have noted it too and sometime they play with me by giving an answer which can confuse me more, lol! and they laugh when they reply me in such a way. But, I try to fake my confidence by asking more questions and come to know for sure who I am talking to. Sometimes when they feel that I am confused and just asking to be sure they embarrass me more by asking directly, "who you are talking too" and I am like what to say now! lol! This is evolving over time and we each find a way to amuse other:-) it's quite a fun thing often times even if I am embarrassed:-)

LOL, very funny.... ha ha ha. This happen to my sons. My husband always unable to differentiate both their voice. Once, he called and would want my eldest to help to get something from the shelf. My youngest was the one that pick up the call, he told his dad he is not tall enough to do so. My husband was furious thinking that our eldest son was being lazy. So, he asked him to call me to the phone. He told me to educate our eldest son. I laughed and told him that he had been talking to our youngest one.

something like this happen to me too, a friend of mine called me at the office and played trick on me, she said her name is Liza, so I assumed it was the Liza I was at that time working with her cousins wedding. So I get on and discussed some plans and some things to do and she just keeps on saying ahah...yeah..on the other line.. So when it was my time to ask her about her suggestions..she blurted out and laughed..:) I ended up laughing too..but like you, I felt so stupid on not recognizing my friends voice.

There was once I assumed it was my friend who picked up the phone. The voice sounded the same. So I start ranting my displeasure and guess what? The other party allowed me to rant and when I stopped, he only said 3 words 'Who you want'... I realised I got the wrong audience. It was so embarassing!

I just go errr.. and then say Sorry and put down the phone. I learnt my lesson. Whenever I call, even if I find the voice familiar, I will double confirm if it is the person I am looking for.

No, but it has happened to someone else, and it was just what he deserved. My father in law (when we were still speaking) would always try to trick us when he rang, making out he was someone else. We never fell for it, maybe if he varied the time he rang!!! But he got a phone call one day, and thinking it was my wife trying to trick him, started taking the p*@s out of this woman, and acting the clown. It turned out to be someone ringing on a work matter! Funny, his stupid calls to us seemed to stop all of a sudden!!!

Yes, that has happened to me a few times. One of the last times, was when I called home form work, and my son, Elijah answered the phone(he still lives with me). Anyway, he sounded just like my oldest son, Jamey, he doesn't live with me, he's married and has kids. Anyway, thinking it was Jamey, I said "what are you doing there?" Elijah said, "Getting ready to take a shower, why"? So, naturally, still thinking it was, Jamey, I said, why don't you take a shower at your house?" Elijah said, I live here, have you lost your mind? Then I realized it was him, and I was pretty embarrassed. I explained that I thought it was Jamey, and then, I think he really did believe I had lost my mind. lol

My husband often mistakes a friend's son for his mother. He will start a conversation thinking it is our friend and the son is too polite to jump in and say it is the son he is speaking to. But eventually he will say that he will get his mother.

yes, I have thought I was talking to someone and it was their teenager. Most of the time though, people call me sir I just tell them I am not a sir, I am a ma'am. Embarrasses them so much. My warped humor gets a kick out of that. Most people mistake my voice for my oldest grandson and some of them think I am kidding (or that it is him kiddng them) when they call me his name and I tell them that I am his grandmother.

Yes that happens all the time when I call my Aunts house. Her son is going through his voice changing stage and I think I am talking to his dad. My hubby held a conversasion for a few minutes thinking it was his dad too. Now I have to make sure who I am talking when I call them.
