What do you order at a coffee shop, when you don't want caffeine?

Since moving to Seattle, I've discovered that EVERYONE always wants to meet for coffee, or go for coffee, or otherwise consume coffee. This isn't surprising, seeing as I have seen two Starbucks literally right across the street from each other. My problem, however, is that I don't consume caffeine (for medical reasons). So I never know what to order when I go to a coffee shop. So many of them only have chamomile tea if you ask for decaf tea, and I don't really like chamomile tea most of the time. So for the other non-caffeine drinkers, what do you like to order when you go to a coffee shop?

I really can't help you here, I beverage consumption is largely based on the amount of caffeine contained in it. If I don't get enough caffeine, I tend to get migraine headaches. There is of course: decaff coffee, hot chocolate, caffiene free soda, water, milk, lemonaide (maybe) and often cold tea's will be caffiene free as well. When in doubt, order Fresca haha.

I can walk into a coffee shop with no intetion of buying any caffeine but that first whiff of coffe grounds is usually enough to shatter my resolve. If I ma bold enough to hold off then I usually just get a bottle of water or a blended fruity drink called a liscio that my coffee shop serves.

I would order plain water, if not I will order tea with milk if you don't like chamomile tea. If they have a refrigerator, I suppose they will have other drinks as well. Maybe sodas or drinks in boxes such as soy milk, fruit juices or anything. If not, I won't mind bringing my own packet of instant mix drink. I will order a cup of hot plain water and mix my own drink. Nothing to be ashamed of, if I am close to my friends. They would understand if they are truly our friends, isn't it? Maybe this suggestion helps. Thanks.

You can get any of the espresso drinks decaf, I recommend the Dulce de Leche latte, but if you don't like the taste of coffee then you can get a steamer. This is hot milk with any of the flavored syrups and whipped cream on top. Similar to hot chocolate. The vanilla steamer is very good, even non-fat with no whipped cream. The passion tea I've seen people mention is also good if you want something cold. Also, you can purchase a San Pelligrino from the ready to eat and drink case, take it to the barista and ask that they flavor it with a syrup and pour it over ice...voila! Italian Soda. So good with a little half and half. The cream based frappuccinos are also a good option, they are basically milk shakes. Oh and btw, the decaf has almost no caffeine, but oddly enough the chocolate drinks like the double chocolate chip frappuccino have quite a bit.

I can drink coffee, but I know that when I am out with my friends at Tim Hortons or at Starbucks, they ask for decaffeinated coffee and they usually get it. Most coffee shops give you that selection. Also many have herb tea selections and there are some green teas that are decaffeinated. However you could ask for some hot water and bring your own bags. When I do not want any coffee, I usually order mint or lemon tea.

I thought about decaf coffee after I posted this, realizing I hadn't said anything about it. I've never really been all that fond of coffee, even when I could still have caffeine. I suspect that will all of the mocha and latte and whatever else they add to it, it might not be so bad, though. :)

I sometimes order a bottle of water, or I get one of those sodas called Jones. They have different flavors, but I'm not sure how many shops carry that line. A lot of places do, but of course it must vary from state to state.

Oh, I love Jones Soda! Unfortunately, I haven't seen it much since we moved up here--Wal-Mart carried it when we lived in Illinois, though!

well you can order 500mls of mineral water. Great for cleansing your ststem, rehydrating you and has almost no negative effects! No calories and 500mls is approximately one quarter of your daily requiremnt. If you go for a second drink in the coffee shop you could alternate this with a yogurt drink, I notice Starbucks here in Dublin has them, dunno about Seattle. Personally I would just stick with the water as you can be completely conscience free about it!

I've only ever been in one Starbucks (believe it or not) and I don't like their coffee (it tastes burnt to me), so I got this fruit smoothie type thing. I thnk it was called a Tiazzi or something like that.

well i will just order flavoured tea like chamomile or peppermint tea.or juice. in starbucks there's a decaffeainated coffee. sometimes i order that too. i don't really like coffee and i'm not coffee drinker.but when i have to go to the coffee shop, i really don't mind. i can order what i mentioned above with some cake and then just sitting there with my friends and chat each other. if the coffee shop have a wi-fi facility, then i will bring my laptop and surfing the internet there with a glass of cold peppermint tea. I could be there for hours.it's fun

There is rarely a time when I don't want caffeine. The only time I ever go to a "coffee shop" and don't want caffeine is when I go to Starbucks because I can't stand their coffee. When I am there I usually order a peppermint mocha hot chocolate.

hi... i love coffee but there are days when i don't want caffeine, i order juice or iced fruit and flower teas like swiss berry herbs, chamomile, lavender, green tea and mint. There are so refreshing and cool. i feel relaxed right after. i love the smell too, so fragrant... Chamomile and lavender teas are so beneficial that they cured my 2-year insomnia just this summer....:-D
