I told most of you a while ago that I bought a set of table and chairs for the garden , I have sat at them once as this summer has been really terrible , we went for a drive tonight as it was a nice night , I had bought a set of covers to put over them , they were clear with little cherries on them , anyway when we came home tonight I noticed the cover was of the chairs but the one on the table was still there , odd !I asked my neighbour if she had noticed anything odd going on , she told me patio sets were being stolen in the are , what is the world coming to , we live in a really lovely area and we have great neighbours , and yet people are coming to steal our property, I got a bit paranoid thinking ,they might have tried the cover and got away with it and come back , well!! they won't get it as they are in the garden shed . Hubby was laughing as he said I hadn't locked the car and it was worth a lot more than the patio set , My mind was on that , I have just double checked the car again lol , night all I am off to bed now , take care xxxx

Now why in the world would someone want to steal someone's patio furniture? Some of it is really inexpensive to purchase at any store. Unless they are stealing it to later sale it for a profit of their own. Either way stealing is just wrong and should never be done.

People steal patio furniture & garden furniture/ ornaments all the time here. Sometimes its for resale, or top keep, or it's just straight out vandalism.

Sad but true, weemam. People will steal anything that isn't nailed down-and sometimes things that are! I hope that you will be able to replace your lovely chair covers soon. Your hubby must have a great sense of humor.

I once had my lawn mower walk off. The funny thing is we found it about a block away, it was an old mower I guess they decided it was too old also and just left it there, Kind of a weird thing to do. Maybe they had to cut their grass. Ha Ha!!!

Aww Aunty Wee - that is awful! I am surprised no one noticed - surely someone here must have seen someone going round the back? Its horrible that someone would do that and I better make sure that David and the kids are locking the sheds before they come inside in the evenings now! xxxx

I had a bike I was carrying around in my car. One day I went camping and leaned it against my car at the campsite. Someone stole it by next morning. I mean, what are people, monsters? Come to think of it, in my recent experience, yes they are. :(

I live in London so I am used to putting everything under lock and key and checking to make sure the car is locked etc. It is sad when you have lived in such a nice area and now it is happening to you. I tell you nowhere seems to be safe nowadays and it is sad. Why on earth would someone risk being caught for a set of chair covers. You must have such exquisite taste, they just could not resist. Sad losers though weemam and I hope this will not happen again to you. All the best!X

You know, this sort of stupid theft is common here too. People want to make the front yards look attractive. My parents had a chair stolen from their front yard. Now they chain the table & chairs to the ground. Stealling gnomes is very common. My brother had his whole chair, the long, display kind, stolen from his front yard. I'm sorry this happened to you.

I have had garden ornament stolen before but I think it was someone with a drink being smart , I think the cover was a trial run and the furniture would have been next , but not now lol xx

Yea, I have to deal with that with my parents neighborhood. It is not a bad one, but you get hoodlems from other areas that want to get easy merchandise. They had stolen my brothers bikes from our own bac yard more than once. Then they tried to steal our cars several times, that is until I came out with the dog all night for a few nights. Made them think twice. I even had the dog out there on a leash and me sleeping in the living room.

This is interesting. Perhaps the thief is just up to have some mischief. Or he is really in need of them. How did the thief get into the garden shed? The gate was not locked? It is easier to get the sets away rather than the car. lol.

That's just dreadful. I can't imagine how people think they can steal other people's things. It's like they think they are more deserving or you can afford to buy it- you can afford to have it stolen. Some people are weird and nasty. Where I live, they steal fuel out of cars. Even if there's a locking petrol cap, they jemmy it off.

Sorry to hear that weemam - it seems some folks will steal anything today. At least they are all safe now, in the garden shed (hope it has a lock on it) lol! I agree with your hubby now - make sure you don't forget to lock the car!
