Phobias and bridges

A friend of mine has always had a huge phobia about driving over a bridge. Of course the bridge collapse today has triggered this off again in a major way. She plans her trips and checks out what bridges are in each route and absolutely never goes over a suspension bridge. Are you frightened to drive over bridges?

A friend of mine had this freak out fit everytime a car she was in had to go over a bridge. My sister when we were little, would walk out on the fishing pier at the beach but she hated it if anyone jumped. It wasn't just a little dock, it was a heavily built well supported wooden pier. It's not like it moved in the waves or anything. She just hated to have anyone jump up and down on it though.

I don't care to drive over them but living in central Illinois - and close to the Mississippi River - and the Illinois River - I don't have much choice in the matter. I am a firm believer that when your time comes it will come if you are sitting in an easy chair in the living room or driving across a bridge -even one such as the Golden Gate Bridge.
