Do you prefer flooring with carpet? Is your house floor carpet?

Carpet is nice to walk on, soft to touch and felt warm during winter. But, personally I do not like carpet flooring. Reason being when we spill something over, it is difficult to clean and clear. And, regardless how I vacuum, it seem like it never get clean. As for myself, I have sensitive nose or rather allergy I can say. My eyes will be watery and itchy nose. Unfortunately, the place that I current rent is carpet flooring. I have to use the mat to cover over it and took out all the mat to vacuum the carpet. As for the mat, I clean it alternate day. How about you, what is your house flooring? And, do you prefer carpet vs the other flooring.

We used to have a carpet in our master bedroom however we found that it was very difficult to maintain and clean it up. Now all our floor are tile, beautifully decorated and the best part of the tiles are easy to clean and mop or vacumn. As for the carpet, when it is wet it will get smelly and difficult to get rid of any stain.

You are right, the stain is really a pain in the neck. Hard to get rid.

well, in our place, it's not advisable to have a carpeted floor because during rainy days, sometimes when rain is too much, we get flooded but thank God we haven't experienced flooded this time.. i have plans of making our floor carpeted but i think, at this time it's better no to because i still have my little kids ans as what you have said, it's difficult to clean spilled sodas, chocolates, milk or anything and i'm sure we can't avoid that spilling because of the kids.. so, i think, all i want it carpeted is our room which is in the second floor of the house...

That's bad, if it is carpeted .... rain and flood. I can't imagine how long does it takes to clean up and dry up.

Yes, I do have carpeting in my house. I have it in every room but the kitchen and the bathroom. I love the way that it feels on my feet, it keeps we warm in the winter. It is much easier to care for than bare floors. All you have to do is vacume it. I also have a carpet scrubber so if there is a spill it is so easy to clean up.

Hi sunkissed, thanks for the tips on carpet scrubber. I will need to check it out in the mall and see if it is affordable for me to procure.

no i am not a fan of carpet, most rooms in my house have laminate floors. We have dogs and cats and there muddy paws would ruin any carpet in less than a week, whereas with laminate all it needs it to be swept and mopped and it is good as new again,Sometimes all it takes is one spill to completely ruin an entire carpet, and you could always cover laminate o floorboards with a rug or mat in the colder months.

My house has carpeting and flooring. I do not have any problems with the flooring in my house. Either one is fine with me.

I have carpet, and as soon as I get the funds I am going rip some of it out. I have allergies, and I think hardwood floor would be better.

I am torn between the two. I love hardwood floors and pretty tile. It's so clean and easy to take care of. However I think carpet helps keep the house warm in the winter. I live in a slab house, for those that do not know what that is, it's a house build directly on to cement no wood or air between. So in the winter when the ground gets cold, that coldness just seeps through the floor. So one day I so hope and pray we will have a house with a basement and I will have all hardwood floors.

Hi sunshinecup, I can imagine the freezing impact during the winter. I know the kind of dilema between the two.

we have carpeting throughout the house and I am most displeased with it. it dirties easy, it stains, it harbors fleas and dust mites. I would much rather have hard flooring through out the house and just scatter some washable throw rugs about.

I have carpet in every room except the kitchen and bathroom. It's just me and my husband, no kids so spills are rare. Neither of us has any major allergies so that's not a problem either. I prefer carpet especially in the winter, these floors get cold! But I will admit they are a pain to clean so I don't do it as often as I probably should.

Yes, in winter it is real cold, I have forgotten to wear my slipper into the bathroom, the floor was freezing.

Hello maehan I don't like carpet, I know that carpet is very soft and smooth, but I don't like the smell, we must keep clean and don't make it wet because after that the smell is very bad for me. LOL... I like to dance and I can't dance on carpet flooring. God bless you *angel

My house is fully carpeted. I like it because it is cozy and warm looking, and easy on the feet. However, I had tile once. It was easier to clean and better if you have allergies. For now, I am happy with the carpeting.

Hi maehan, I prefer hard wood flooring like I have in my apartment. It is easy to clean and it does not hold dust like carpeting does. I have cats so I would really have to work hard at vacuuming the hair daily if I had carpets. Carpeting is very hard on people with allergies. I hope you feel better. Take care...

In my previous house I didn't have very much money. I shopped in the market place and managed to buy a few cheap carpets. One for the lounge, three pieces joined together for the hall and two carpets for the bedrooms. I put a plastic flooring in the kitchen and bathroom. When I had saved more money I had one carpet throughout the house apart from the kitchen and the bathroom. It got ruined by the front door with my bike coming in and out. Then when I got my dog Secret it got very messed up indeed. I now live in a different house. It had carpet here when I first moved in. But I decided to lay a flooring that looks like wood in all rooms expect the bathroom and the shower room. It is convenient as it can be swept and washed down if necessary. This is handy with dogs and children around. I have many allergies and find wooden style flooring suits me more than carpet as there is less dust around.

Carpet all the way! Hehe. Well actually, I prefer it like we have it at home, tile flooring downstairs (in the kitchen, living room and den areas) and carpet upstairs (in the bedrooms). We don't generally eat in our rooms so there's no fear of spilling, and I can wake up and put my feet on the carpet and it won't be freezing cold, like the tiles always are. Best of both worlds...though we did have an accident once with our dog peeing in the carpet! Lol.

Tiles are excellent, look nice and cosy. Especially in those country that have four seasons. Carpet is great during winter.

I dont like carpet either. I mean it is sooo warm and comfy and cozy. But like you said, ya spill something on it and its done for. I have 2 toddlers running around and we have a really light off white carpet. MY GOD...its brown now. Not that I dont clean it but I do and it dont come out. AFter this winter we are going to rip it up and keep the hardwood floors under it. WHy they carpeted over theese beautiful hardwood floors is beyond me but they did!

I think it all depend on the seasons and country. If the country is a whole year round summer. Wooden flooring is excellent. And, if there is a winter, maybe it will be cold to walk around.

We use linoleum for flooring. Linoleum is durable, easy to maintain and very comfortable. We can wipe it also. I am also allergic to dust and carpet is a big no for me. I can clean it easily and my baby can move on it freely without hurting himself. Even glass items don't break when fell on linoleum floors. So, in all way, it is the best for flooring. I would personally suggest linoleum to all my friends. Moreover, it comes in a variety of patterns and designs. I searched the net and found the below link.
