I have a business line, that I have to pull out one of my business card to know what the number is. The last week or two I am getting all these telemarketers call. I have also started getting promotions from companies I do business with that have my home phone number, but yet they are calling my business line. I am really annoyed. Do these telemarketers buy the list from the phone company? How do they get folks number?

they got it from various sources; the yellow & white pages and also from the internet and they don't need to pay for it. Try to search your name on yellow/white pages via internet and every country provide these services. You will find it!!!!

My number is not listed in the yellow or white pages. I am going to try the do not call list to see if that is going to help.

That's the first question that I ask on the telemarketer after introducing his self, his product and the business that he have. He will answer back that they made a random sampling on telephone numbers and we are one of them luckily chosen. I am a bit annoyed because our phone is prepaid and our telephone number does not appear on any telephone directory. How come then that they were able to call us. It's really a question.

I was forced to get a business tax certificate from my city because I had a hobby that required me to get a seller's permit from the state. The city takes all the information and publishes it in a database and anyone who wants to look at it can. Since mine is a home business, that means my home phone number is listed. And, business numbers are not eligible for the do not call list. So, it's probably your city or whomever you have to register your business with that is giving out your number.

I think it get it from yellow pages or any marketeer lucky draw that we submit. I do a search from the yellow pages. It reflect our address, phone number and full name. I received several telemarketers calls per day and prank call too! I get so agitated that I get my sons to pick up the phone. Guess what, they put down the phone without second thought once they heard a child voice.

its possible from dealing with credit card companies, they are sharing information with others.its also possible they are getting information from the internet.try to see if you have a do not call list, call the number and have your name removed from the list.most of the times its computer generated, computer base starts at one number and works its self in sequence.

They actually make COPIES of LISTED telephone numbers, from your phone book and they go through each individual sheet one at a time. How do I know this? I know this because I worked for about 3 months as a telemarketer, for a cleaning company taht i worked for at the time, that is until the company went out of business. If I were you guys, I would first, make sure your home phone and mobile phone numbers are UN-LISTED out of the Telephone books that come to your house every now and then, and then I would go hear and re-add yourself to the DO NOT CALL LISTING!!! Hopefully these steps will help! Thanks for having this thread!!! :)
