Government wire tapping

Do you think the government has the right to tap into phone calls? The discussion right now it that they do it to catch terrorists. Since I don't have anything to hide it wouldn't bother me. How do you feel. Do you think that is invasion of privacy or do you feel it's justified in order to maintain national security?

I believe it is a threat to our privacy since the real reasony why goverments do that is to track people so they can maintain more control over the populace.
Yes i agree that people who are potential suspects should have there phones tapped but to go on a massive wiretap and listen to all conversations is just simply invading our privacy to maintai full control.Hello 1984!!!!!!!!

I think it's just a 'justified excuse' Bush and his administration use to spy on the American people. Granted, I think some people are suspicious, however I think most of the people that happen to be targeted are regular people that don't have anything to hide that aren't up to anything. They're just having their privacy invaded because the government thinks something is up.

Who cares if their "privacy" is invaded? Privacy isn't a right. As long as their rights regarding prosecution aren't violated there is no harm, and this hasn't happened yet and I would be willing to be money it won't happen. People worried about this snowballing are irrational and melodramatic.

let em, its no big deal if you have nothing to hide. but i want to see progress with wiretaps at the head of the results table
