Okay I love sitting outside at all hours of the day and night. I even enjoy sitting outside in the cold winter nights. Other than a bonfire I enjoy just lighting my Tiki torches and sit watching the flames flicker. I also love watching the dumb bugs that fly right into the flame burning up in a crackling sound before my eyes. HAHAHA!! So what do you like to do at nighttime when bored or for relaxation? Do you own or ever had Tiki torches? Do you light them often? I burn mine even if for just 5 minutes as I smoke a cigarette outside. they are in my back yard by my patio table and chairs. Sometimes I will move them to my front yard sitting on my front deck watching the nighttime traffic driving by. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Oh I am online at this time. I just step outside for a smoke or a break from mylot and light the torches. If even only for a couple minutes. My wife thinks I'm nuts. I say she is nuttier because she married me. Well send a friends request then and you'll see me around A LOT. Hahahaha!1 HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I used to love sitting outside in the evening - no tikki torches though - only citronella candles! I can't really get around too well right now so don't get to sit outside too much - you know what I miss most - eating breakfast and coffee outside on a nice morning! xxx

We do more of a morning thing, and light oil candles I have made from old jelly jars. Uses the same oil as Tiki torches, though. If we get to be home and out at night, we will light the chiminea. My husband got it for me for Christmas one year, and it is really awesome. It is red clay, like a flower pot, but it has a Mexican scene poured into it. We like to burn cedar in it, as we had a cedar tree come down this spring. So that is how we indulge our own fire bugs.

I keep trying to talk my wife into letting me build a fireplace/BBQ/firepit combo in the back yard. I've lots of room and it would get used a whole lot. Someday we will. When the funds are right and don't need more important things. For now I've a firepit I use for my bonfires. In fact I may have one tomorrow if it doesn't rain. Sounds like a cozy evening you have sometimes. When can we come over then? I'll bring the S'Mores supplies for us all. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I had tiki torches once but where we lived the wind kept blowing them out. I love going out side and skinny dipping in the dark or just sitting out in the back yard and cooling off. I spend a lot of time in the back yard in the pool or just sitting by the pool. I have a hamick that I sleep in sometimes when it is to hot to sleep inside. I love my back yard.

That's one reason I bought the steel type Tiki torches instead of bamboo type. I pull the wick out a lot further so the wind doesn't blow them out. I've yet to have one blown out even with 30 mph winds so far. HAHAHAHA!! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Well grandpa bob, as much as i like sitting outside, i can't do that here in Bahrain. It's just very hot here, when i go out i can't relax because i'll be perspiring like crazy, so instead of relaxing i feel irritated. And there's not much sight of stars here either. So instead of being outside, i'll just stay inside the house, light some scented candles (i love them!) and sometimes i'll spend hours just watching the candles burning and playing with the melted wax.. hehehehe. I envy you grandpa bob, you can sit outside and light your Tiki tourch and relax... *sad face* wish i could do that here.. take care. cheers! :D

I also am a candle person. I must have about 50 candles at any given time in my house. I burn them daily as well. I love scented ones. Mostly Vanilla scent. Yummy! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I love sitting outside. We also have bon fires and I also have 3 tiki torches. I don't like the bugs biting, the smoke helps keep them away. Its also fun to just watch the fire flicker in the dark. I don't do candles in the house. I worked for a company that cleaned up after fires. I cleaned up after way too many candle fires.

I like to sit outside during night. It is the best time for me to hang outside because at this hour the surrounding is peaceful. I enjoy watching the moon, and talking with my husband. I like the sound of the wind blowing and the feel of cool breeze on my skin. It is very, very peaceful to me.

What are Tiki torches? Maybe we know them by a different name! At night, four times each week I am at my daughters swimming. Sometimes I knit when I am there. I am knitting a jumper for an orphan in Mongolia. Other nights when I am home, I eaither read, watch TV or go on the internet. We have a fire most saturday nights.

Tiki Torch - One style of a tiki torch
Here's a closer look at my tiki torches. They are a type of kerosene burning lamp/torch that sticks in the ground. Most are a bamboo type but there are a varied stly available. Hope this helps. The main thing about a Tiki torch is that it sticks into the ground wherever you wish as opposed to a regular torch that is held etc. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I do own some tiki torches- but do not use them often- I love to sit on the back deck with no lights on- We have a swing there- Most nights this is where we sit and chat before bed- My daughter and I- and then my sig. other and I when my daughter is in bed. A lot of times we have bon fires- and sit by the fire- If we go all the way to the swingset then I light the torches and carry them with me-

Wow, Grandpa Bob, I love Tiki torches. I'm sooooo jealous, and apparently naive too, as I didn't even realize that people have these in their own yards. I thought you had to go to Hawaii to enjoy such things. I was there back in the 70's, and have very wonderful, and vivid memories, of Tiki torches burning everywhere, and the Hawaiian music wafting on the tropical breeze. Close family of mine are in Cuba at the moment, and I'm quite envious, although very happy for them at the same time.;)

We usually have bonfires on the weekends so that's where you will find me on Fri, Sat, Sun, nights no matter how warm or cold it is outside. Long as I'm sitting in front of a fire so I can watch it, I'm happy. That is another reason why I soooooo love my wood-burning fireplace. Love to stare into the flames and think.

No, I don't own or ever had Tiki torches. * Night time, mostly i'll be sitting before the computer. * Sometimes i go for a walk, when there is a good company. * Even i do a sightseeing from the house terrace itself, occasionally. * I watch the sky as well, if there is moon and some bright stars. * I may even go for a drive, go to eat-outs or just chat with my friends, neighbours rarely. * I read some spiritual books as well or listen to some classical / devotional music, if i'm feeling low. * I feel like solving puzzles at times. A lot depends upon my mood. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM I_LUV_U TOO!!~

I am fortunate enough to live in the country. With no city lights blocking them out, I go outside and count the many, many stars. Of course that doesn't last long...as I watch the bonfire, my horses & dogs, lightening bugs, my rose garden, and anything else that catches my attention. We have tiki torches around the deck, where we sit when it is too hot to justify a bonfire. I love sitting outdoors...anywhere...but, especially at my home. :)

Why not have a bonfire when it's hot and muggy? A bonfire isn't just for sitting around for warmth you know. I love the bonfires at any season be it hot & humid or cold and snowing. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I'm hardly ever bored, and as far as relaxation will watch one of my favorite DVD movies again, and again..you know the kind you never get tired of watching...otherwise, I pretty much live in front of my computer..which I don't mind

I enjoy a nighttime break just sitting outside and taking in the night time air. I too have Tiki torches in my backyard. I light them anytime I plan to be outside for an extended amount of time. Our backyard is a very peaceful place and I know it helps my husband unwind and destress from work so we try to spend as much time out there as possible.

I think, maybe this thing of watching the Tiki torches or a bonfire, is something thats stirs a bit of primitive man in all of us. We claim to have evolved beyond the savage stage, but just how far, is yet to be determined. In times past, life was simplier, even if we were daily fighting wild beasts, or whatever, but we were hunters; We were strong men, and well past our fear of anything. Sitting around a warm fire at night, was our statisfaction of having survived another day.
