First Date Etiquette

It seems nowadays with women being more independent and men becoming less old fashion in their ways, people have wavering opinions on who should pay on a first date. Is it no longer acceptable to assume that the man will foot the bill? Or is more reasonable to expect that daters are "going dutch"?

i think it depends on who did the asking for the date. if the Guy asked the girl...then he should be paying. if the Girl asked the guy..then she should be paying. and for a guy to ask a girl then suddenly "not have the money" is a bunch of bullsh*t..and i would have paid my part and left him sitting there! what a jerk!

Well said. Whoever does the asking should do the paying.

If I ask someone out then I pay. But If they ask me out then he should pay. I guess it all depends. You also have those Men and Women that are after freebies. Some people go out just to have a free dinner or free drinks then ditch the person.

Unfortunately, back in the ole college days I was one of those girls. I may not have had the slightest interest in the guy, but I was always up for a free meal or drinks at the bar. Glad I grew out of that. The user mentality is definitely not a good look.
