Winter. I first heard it at a difficult time in my life. It's still my favorite song.

Yes it does. That whole album means so much to me. I went through a time in my life where Silent All These Years seemed to be my theme song. I was so frustrated and she just said everything I was feeling and couldn't put into words myself.

The first song I heard is, so far, the only song I've heard. 1000 Oceans. It played during my favorite episode of Judging Amy, and I really liked the song.

Silent All These Years from Little Earthquakes. I'm a metalhead, but the feeling i got when i first heard that song is just indescribable - i've been a fan of hers ever since. Has anyone here managed to get their hands on Y KANT TORI READ from 1988? Try and get it from ebay or somewhere if you can, it's different, but i still love it.

funny, I do know someone else who calls himself a metalhead and says that silent all these years was a song which introduced tori to him and kinda teached him to love her music. still wondering why it's like that...

it had to have been silent all these years...another one i am still searching for to hear again was a tori amos/bt mix (not blue skies) - it was so powerful...i think i had it on a tape cassette from a friend, but no idea what it was called.

First Tori song I heard was Cornflake Girl, and I remember I absolutely hated it and found it irritating, however it grew on me over the years and I am now quite obsessed with Tori and have been ever since I got my hands on Little Earthquakes when I was a teenager (I'm old now lol, 30).

Silent All These Years. My drama teacher played it to us. I immediately went out and bought Little Earthquakes!

Yes. The first song I heard was Cornflake Girl. Together with that was the story behind the song.

I was racking my brains for who your picture reminded me of. Duh. Of course.. :) I don't remember the first song I heard of hers. Possibly Cornflake Girl. I saw her in concert once, 10 years ago. A bit disappointing really.. just her at the piano, and way too loud for that type of music, for my taste. She just seems so much like Kate Bush on an off day.. (I love Kate Bush.. Have all her albums). How a big a Tori fan are you, I wonder?

I am a huge fan of her. Not only because of her music also because of.. well, things she said and says I feel conected in some way - its hard to explain. 10 years ago wow.. I would love to go back to the past to see her playing. Things have changed much since than.

Baker, Baker. One of my best friends (whom I don't see at all any more, which is a real pity) played it to me. I remember I fell in love with the tense and romantic atmosphere Tori creates at once. Then I came across Little Earthquakes in our local library, so that was the first album and I liked some songs even better. Happy Phantom, for example, and Winter, of course.

Baker Baker really is a tense and romantic song - the sound is very touching but I've to admit that I never was a big fan of that song. What about the other albums, I guess you do know them now, don't you?

Cornflake Girl. A college classmate of mine in General Microbiology was raving about a hot red head who could really play the piano. Throughout the lecture, he was gushing and talking like a besmitten rabid dog. Hehehe. After class, he let his friends listen to Tori's "Cornflake Girl" on his portable ... and I became a fan instantly.

General Microbiology, sounds interesting. Did you like that *subject*? Cornflake Girl is a great song to start listening to Tori (but I'm sure everyone has a different opinion on that). Do you remember how many days, month, years ago that was?

Absolutely I remember. It was "Cornflake Girl" when Under the Pink had just been released. That was 1994, and I've been hooked ever since.

It's great to meet someone who knows Tori since such a long time and does like her since many many years. Have you seen her life ever since?

Not sure of the first song of Tori's I heard. I like her voice and piano playing and have a couple of her CDs. I liked a duet she did with Dr. John a few years ago.

First song for me was Cornflake Girl in '94...but I didn't become the obsessed EwF I am today until 2002. I bought Under the Pink at a used CD store, and fell in love with her...went back the next day and bought the rest of her albums that had been released up to that point. The first song I learned to play on the piano was Bells for Her...and it's still the one I play the most, because I like to transcribe all of the different intros she gives it when touring. My favorite albums to listen to are, in no particular order, Boys for Pele, Choirgirl Hotel, and Scarlet's Walk...but Under the Pink was brilliant (especially Yes, Anastasia). Love her other albums too, of course :)

The first song I heard of hers was a song about wearing jeans. She'll wear his jeans and write on them. And a kitchen. . But that is my favorite CD so far of hers. It is also an older one. There is Leather on it, China, Winter- that is good. I like the winter song. And I remember the line, "I put my hand in my daddy's glove, there's a time you must learn to stand up, for yourself I won't always be around." This was a creative impetus and I wrote some poetry and did art to this music. She is amazing. I don't read a lot of her words. But it sounds great. Those are the ones that I remember. Leather is a funny song, and it grows on you. You might not like it at first times listening to it. But I love the pointedness. Sorry that I couldn't remember the name of the song that I first heard.

I most definitely can. It was Silent All These Years in 2003. I listened to it over and over again. I soon learned that my first Tori song was Talulu, though, because I had heard it on Twister! At the time I didn't know it was her, though.
