I think the laptop is a very convenient tool and people prefer to buy it rather than a desktop. But I think it needs to have some necessary improvements. What is your idea about it? In my opinion, I think it needs to improve the battery. Because usually it can not last for a long time. If it can last for 1 week, it'll be nice.

Hello youless!:-) You are right, the most important improvement that one can get on laptops, keeping all other things same, is about it's battery. My laptop is more than 30 months old and it doesn't last more than an hour on it's battery. I would like that it's battery should last at least a whole day, so it can be used on a long plane travel. 1 week would really be great, if it is possible. I would like to think that there will be such improvements some years from now. Other important thing that I would like it to have improved is its RAM and Hard Disk, which though already are offered but they are too costly to afford. So, it would be better if they have much more capacity in cheaper prices. Weight is another consideration. My laptop already weighs around 2.5 kg. So, if it can be made less than a kg, it will reduce burden especially when travelling.

Sorry for not coming back earlier as I have been offline, lately. Battery does seem to be a most troubling problem. Thanks for the best response, youless!:-)

My husband's laptop is very old, too. So he has to charge the battery when he is using his laptop. Because his battery can't last for a long time.

I was just thinking of buying a laptop as I am always on the go. I do not know what is the shortcoming of a laptop and now it seems that the battery has a short life span. I have to think about it .

Yes laptop is better than the desktop. But the laptop should consists of some necessary components and one of the important is its battery power and the weight plus its compatibility with the hardware and software should be balanced.

It seems today the Sony laptop is very light, but it's also quite expensive:)

I love my laptop! But I also have my desktop, the only things I actually miss from my desktop that I wish I had on the laptop is memory. On my desktop I was able to put in about 300GB of memory so I have all of music collection and pictures and just any and everything on there. My laptop only gets about 80 something gigs, so it's very limiting. It'd also be great if laptops were more durable. I hear the average life of a laptop is 3 years or so, I don't have a year yet with mine but I sure do hope that it lasts a lot longer than that!
