My etsy shop was suffering becuase of mylot

Origionally, I joined mylot, because with the then payout system, I could make enough in a month to pay my etsy seller fees for selling my crafts online. Soon I got way sucked into mylot and my etsy store just sort of sat around.... Now with the new mylot payout system, I am realizing I have not made nearly as much as I have in the past, and perhaps I have been betting on the wrong horse, so to speak. So, I am spending this week going back to my etsy shop and putting in some good work in updating it and hopefully promoting myself to get some sales. For those of you with etsy shops, how do you juggle mylot, and Etsy. Is one suffering because of the other? By the way, here is my shop if you would like to check it out. I've made a few updates already: http://effulgentcrafts.etsy.com

Time management.. I am a working mom. I have a regular job, a part time job ( selling in auction.ph and in mary kay cosmatics ) and I have myLot as well. I have a household to run as well and a family to take care too.. :) I manage my time in a daily basis of the activities I am going to undertake everyday... I make sure to follow my list or if in any case I miss a task, I carry it over to the next day.. :0) just be patient..

Wow you're a really busy mom. You can do all that in a day? Kudos!

I just joined etsy in the beginning of August and mylot just a couple days ago. I have definitely spent more time in mylot over the last couple days than I have the forums of etsy, so I'll definitely keep your "warning" in mind.

I have a whole lot of online ventures that I do, including Etsy and myLot, and I've found that I always end up spending the most time on the ones that pay least. I also keep telling myself that I need to work on this, but I rarely do. :) I try to keep my myLot posting to times when I can't work on my other sites--mostly during the time I spend in my office before the workday starts and during my lunchbreak (like now! :) ). I'm working on my photography for my Etsy site, as well as promoting it. You won't see much of a difference in the photography yet, but when I bring the bulk of my hats back (hopefully by the end of the month), they should be looking a lot better! :) http://scarywhitegirl.etsy.com

I hear you. I have been doing a lot of work on my photography too...and learning how to use my camera. I've found that natural light works the best, but that can sometimes lead to some tricky timing. I like your idea of doing mylot when you can't do other things. I think that's a good strategy. Good luck with your shop!

Yeah, the natural light has been a real problem for me since we moved, because it's cloudy a lot here, and even when it's sunny, the sun is usually gone from my deck by the time I'm home and ready to take pictures. I'm glad you like the ice cream cozies. I've had so many people tell me that they love them! :) (Sadly, I've only sold one.)

It does seem as though mylot earnings have slowed down a lot lately, but as long as they pay me when I reach the required amount then I won't mind. I'm just happy they do pay something for just writing and posting thoughts.

Oh no, I just joined mylot, I hope my Etsy shop doesn't suffer too! hehe!:) No, I think this is a great site. It keeps the brain working when you're coming up with good replies to discussions. My etsy shop is here: http://devilandmouse.etsy.com

I tend to post on Mylot during the day and etsty forums. Then after work I tend to add new items to my shop and work on creating my orders. I think in order to do both you need to multitask. I also have a welove etsy account and a blogspot account so doing it all takes alot of time but if you post alittle everyday in each you will be promoting your store and making money. Etsy will definatly pay more if you sell your items so you need to work on your promotion of you items if you want sales.

This is the first time I've been on mylot in weeks... And I spend at least an hour a day on etsy... so I'd say that my etsy is not suffering at all because of mylot... I did just a open a second etsy shop -- so now I can be found at bohemiankitty.etsy.com and tangerinesunshine.etsy.com
