Going to the mall/shopping alone

I just came into a little bit of money and I need to get some new clothes. In my city there is a Kohl's, Target, JC Penney, and Old Navy. I have already exhausted these stores... It is hard for me to find clothes that fit right and I have tried on just about everything those stores have to offer. Plus everyone here basically has the same wardrobe considering the options are so limited. I want to get something new! We do not have a mall here. The closest one is about an hour and a half away. I think I am just going to go there alone. I rarely go to the mall alone. I don't know why. I like to be with others, but then again I like to shop for clothes by myself. If I am with my boyfriend he gets bored of waiting for me to try things on. If I am with my mom she always wants me to try on the ugliest things. If I am with friends, they always want to give their opinion on my taste. I usually shop alone, but when it comes to the mall I don't think I've ever gone there by myself. Well, today I think I will. Do you have a problem shopping alone? Do you like to do it?

My favorite way to shop is ALONE! I don't have to worry about people rushing me or giving me advice on what to buy. I don't have to feel embarrassed because my size is bigger than others. I don't have to listen to complaining or kids yelling. I can go in peace. Take as long as I want and try on as many things as I want and not hear a word about it. It is my sweet serenity. Probably about the only alone time I get. And I love every minute of it.

sHOPPING aLONE is what I love most too, I agree with jbb316. it's the best way to shop. I can maximize or minimize my time the way I wanted it to be. but just a reminder : I never shop alone with an empty stomach. :)

I never really liked to do anything alone.. when I go shopping usually I meet my mom at the store when she go's and we shop together... or my fiance will go shopping with me.. or my kids (and they make sure to drive me crazy the whole time!) I like to do things with people.. I hate being alone..

if you'd like shopping alone or conversely do not like shopping with the boyfriend and or your friends and has certainly you should go to all by herself what's the big deal. I have several full figured friends that also have difficulty finding close that both looked good fit well in and feel good. And have you ever tried lane Bryant which is catalog shopping but you're probably a fairly standard size that's why they have such standardization so that they can outfit any woman. good luck in your venture or adventure to the mall and God bless.

I am not plus sized so I don't shop at Lane Bryant. They do have a lot of nice clothes, though, and I can usually find a nice gift for my mother there.

I don't mind going to Kohl's or Target alone. I hate going to the mall alone. It is just so big I don't know where to go first. On the other hand, I hate shopping for clothes. I have no place to wear them, except on the weekend. I wear uniforms all workdays. I hate the way the jeans are cut now. Too short in the rise. I don't want hipsters.

I feel the same way about jeans. Most of the juniors sizes are too low and don't cover my butt enough and then the misses sizes don't fit my quite right yet. I need new jeans badly, but I can't find any that fit well.

I like shopping alone. I feel like I can get more done without someone tagging along with me. Actually the only person who I actually enjoy shopping with and who picks out good clothes for me to try on is my future mother in law. The last time I went shopping with her she picked out a lot of really nice outfits for me. If I were you I would go for it and have a nice day of shopping alone in peace. Have fun!

So, how much money have you come into? I think you should fly to Paris or Milan and get the lastest fashions before they even make it to the US. Let you friends have some opinions about that. I like to shop for clothes alone. Mostly because I hate doing it and I don't want to dump my bad mood that always results on anyone else.

But I like to go shop for clothes with my boyfriend because he always find clothes that I didnt saw. He really have a good taste in clothe and he knows what I like. But I donb't go often buy a lot of clothes :P

You could always shop online if you don't want to drive down to the malls in Lansing. I shop online all the time. I also hate going to malls - usually crowded, often full of rude people. I'll go to the mall if I know exaclty what I want adn can get in and out of there. but often, online I can always get my size and usually get shipping for free, and sometimes avoid sales tax, too. I just hate going to malls - bad music, no parking, rude people... blah!

I like shopping online, but I have to try most things on. I can buy t-shirts online, but other than that I have to make sure it fits right. I went to Grand Rapids yesterday and got lost, but I had an okay time once I found the mall.

Hi Molly, I prefer going to the mall alone, that way I dont have friends critique my choices and I have all the time I need to pick the right things. Also I dont have to stop and look at everything that they want to look at. I'm just there for me and that way its easier for me. Take care, Terry

I enjoy shopping alone. I can shop in my own time without having to answer to anyone. My son and hubby don't have the patience so I prefer to do my personal shopping on my own, even if it is at the mall. If I am not shopping then I like to sit at Starbucks and have a coffee and read a book or just sit and watch people go by.

Me,myself, I have NO problems shopping alone because then if I want to take my time, I can do it without worrying what someone thinks and all of that. I think you should look around for styles that grab at you or appeal to you, then go the mall and find an Image Consultant who can help you in your purchasing selections. Wish you the best.

I do not have problems doing most things along, execept that I do not have transportion to places out of town. I have never thought about going via Grayhound buslines. I can take the local bus for disabled people and I have done that, but not much. I pay a person who comes twice a week to take me on errands so why pay a bus when I am already paying someone else? I do not have alot of money so I do not buy to much.

I usually go to malls with my sister...I am not actually fun of buying things which is normally not important. I learned it from my sister. Before when im in college days I usually spend my money without realizing the hard time and effort earn that money they gave for my allowance. But of course it is never been late to change and be mature. Now, I go to malls sometime when my sister is busy but I she usually ask me to wait for her and we spend together though we don't go for shopping but we spend together by playing and eating, talking a lot of things we've done for that day.

i don't mind shopping alone. this way i can take my time. i don't feel like i am being rushed. beside, i don't like waiting for people so having to sit around waiting for someone else to try on things would just make me nuts

Nope- I love to shop- so I don’t care if I’m alone or with people- I’m a shopper- My daughter irritates me though- We will spend hours looking at her clothes and letting her try them on- but after 5 minutes of mine- MOM I’m bored- LOL so usually I leave her home when I’m looking for me!

I love shopping alone. I can take my time looking at and trying on clothes and not be distracted by anyone else's agenda. Unfortunately, I rarely get to shop by myself, but when I do, it's a real treat. Luckily for me, I have a mall within a five minute drive of my house, but the mall no longer appeals to me. I usually shop at some favorite department stores. Shopping alone for me is very good therapy.

Nope, I don't have any problems going to the mall alone. Like you, I also prefer shopping alone because when I am with my friends they have different opinions on what I should or should not buy.
