Do you read other responses before posting your own?

When reading discussions and after I decide to respond to it, sometimes I don't read all or any of the responses other people posted. Sometimes it takes too long because some people write so much, although I do want to skim through people's responses in order to make sure that what I am going to say won't be the same exact thing as what someone wrote before me. There are times when I do read all the responses if the discussion is very interesting or controversial.

I really think that you need to put more effort into your responses, or you will get pulled up about it..

LOL yea. Saying stuff like "same here" will only hurt you in mylot and it is not even worth responding too. Thanks for saying "same here" akulho! LOL.

I do read some other responses sometimes - just to check whether or not there's someone out there with the same sentiment that I have regarding the discussion at hand. Reading others' responses also help me to further my reasoning about the topic opened - eespecially if the topic (as you've also said) is very interesting/controversial. B-)

If its a personal question like what types of pizza do I like or something along those lines, I don't read other people's responses first. If its a more general type question then I will usually read several responses to see if mine will be exactly the same. If my response was going to be like the others, sometimes I won't even bother posting a response. Which makes it hard to find something to answer sometimes. I don't really like posting responses to controversial questions because there are too many people who then will attack you and low rate you because they don't like your response. Been there, had that happen, prefer not to do that again.

Yea the same with me. Sometimes I'm like, hmm I havea really good response for his discussion, than see someone else already said something very similar, so it is actually worth it.

It depends from the argument: in most cases I prefer to read all responses to have an idea of the development of the discussion, but there are some thread in which (I admit it!) the responses are so long to read that I only read the most interesting ones :)

I read most, if not all, of the responses before posting. I feel the same way you do, I don't want to say the same thing someone else has already stated. Also, it gives me a good idea of where the discussion is going.

Yea that is true, it does help to follow up on what someone else said or repspond to their comment. thanks for the response.

Mostly I put my response directly after read main discussion but some time if necessary then I read some responses also. If responses is less then read all responses.

i often read other responses after posting my own. i think it will afftect my thinking if i read other responses before posting my own. Sometimes I don't read others' responses, especially for those long responses. I hope making money from mylot, so i don't care about other responses very much.

Yea and sometimes (for me anyways) it helps remind you of something else you can write about, but sometimes the responses are so long that I forget to write something. Thanks for sharing wonderful.

I read all the posts in my discussions. I have subscribed them to drop into my mail. As and when I get response, I d reply them or i just read them. Thats all. Atleast someone has replied to my discussion, I am happy for that.

I read all the comments I get for my discussions too, and don't always respond to all of them. The mylot guidelines say to not respond by just "thanks" or something like that. Too bad you can't just read someones response and reply by letting them know you are thankful for it. Thanks for sharing archy.

Okay, just for fun I did not read a single response before posting my own! lol I usually read, or at least skim through the responses before posting my own but i do not always read the original poster's response to the responses...if that makes sense. :S

Hi, well yes you are right. I also dont have that kind of time to sit and read all the reponses and discussions, even though i want to, maybe just on weekends, when i am a little free do i sit at it for long and read, specially those topics that interest me, not all the things though. Yes, its not right and we should ideally go through all thats written before us, but i also believe that whatever we feel then is biased by what others mayve written too. We should be original in our replies, doesnt matter if they are repeated, though something still will be different in our original replies.

I read all responses when it is very interesting and full of dispute,,lol...it's fun to read people expressing their feelings here. Sometimes I just read them and not leave any response. SOmetimes I don't read the responses since I tend to leave response within a heartbeat, if I read other responses I'm afraid it will affect my response. but usually i dont read any response

I think I do pretty much the same as you, there are discussions that I read every post and sometimes rate the good ones with a + but if there are a lot of responses, it is impossible to read them all. Some discussions are sort of entertaining and it is easy to read through the most answers.

I think it is depend on my time also if I have a lot of time I read one or two of the responses before posting, more over if the response is a lot it is imposible to read all of the responses, I feel the same way you do, I do not care to say the almost the same thing with someone else,I know exactly what I want to say and I know, that other responses to this discussion will not change it.

The Mylot guidelines say to read each response, probably so you won't say the same thing as someone else... but who does that? THanks for the response unisis.

Yes I often read the question completely as I decide to respond if it interests me. I just rad the guidelines and it says to read each response before posting your own... I doubt many people do that.

I tend to read those discussions on the first only, because it may take a long time before I could put my response to it. Especially to those topics that are included in the "hot topics" section, which are responded almost every by members that catches their attention. But there are times that I don't read, because of two things. It's either I am the first one who responded to it, or I'm on a hurry to not lose the idea I already put up in my mind. To some, they tend to respond via their e-mails, others do not read it because of the time and not the slow running of their PC. Still, it's good if all of us would read previous response from other posters, it would help us learn and provide more information about the subject..

Although it is in the guidelines to read the other responses before responding yourself, I must admit that I do not all the time...I respond to my friends email notifications straight from the email, that way I do not get influenced by what other people have written..But once I have responded then I will go through and have a read.

I never read the responses before I post mine, dsantacruz, since I don't want their opinion to color mine. I will sometimes read through all of the responses after I have posted mine if it's a topic that really interests me.
