In my opinion, the best way to lose weight and get healthy is to count carbs, exercise and drink lots of water. I've tried many different methods including Weight Watchers, NutriSystem, NutriMed, prescription diet pills, over-the-counter diet pills, counting calories, and counting fat grams. I've struggled with my weight all my life. But, this latest method is the easiest and has brought me the best results.

Another great way is not to eat three large meals a day...I have found that if I eat smaller main meals each day, but also eat little mini-meals throughout the day, it kept weight off as well.

I think it depends from person to person. What may work for may not work for my mom or boyfriend. I think the best idea for anyone is to figure out what they eat the most of and cut that portion down. *( high fat intake, high carb intake.... etc. ) And for me since I have gallstones and I also have a PCOS - i have to have a nice blend for the both.

I know that drinking lots of water (enough throughout the day until your urine is clear; ridding body of toxins) and plenty of good exercise help with a person's diet but I've never quite understood the 'carbs' thing. How do you know what all the carb-foods are and how do you go about counting them. How many carbs are you suppose to have per day?

I tried carb counting and didn't like it. It also didn't do much for me weight-wise. Mostly I just increased my activity level and changed my diet a little. More healthy snacks (fresh fruits and veggies), less fat intake (leaner and less meat), more vegetables at meals, whole grain breads, etc. That method has shown better results for me.

MyFanwy65 I hear you. I am getting weight on in the last couple of years due to sitting most of the day behind the computer :( and to not getting to the gym etc, so I had to start doing some dieting in order to keep my body in shape and not feel and look fat. What worked greatly was the fruit diet. For 3 months I was eating only fruits starting in the morning a big shake made of fresh fruits. Followed by a fruit salad in the aftrnoon break at noon, and at 4Pm an other fruit shake or salad, whatever I felt needing, and only in the evning I was eathing meat and vegetables. I lost around 30 pounds in 3 months and felt great. When I stoped with this diet my weight got back to where it was in about 1 year time, so I had to do something again. This time I chose for the Atkinsons diet and have been following it for an year and a keeping the same weight and feel ok. In the last 2 months however I started to eat again pizza, and a piece of breat daily and I am seeing that I am starting to gain a bit of weight again. On the other hand I think - our body is telling us what we NEED and this way we really want to eat whatever our bosy is missing at the moment. So, I will continue the Atkinsons diet as it has given me the best results until now, however I will eat some of the forbidden food when I feel the need to
