Barbie or The Bratz?

There is currently a war brewing between which is the best doll-Barbie or the Bratz. I never was a big fan of Barbie, and I think the Bratz have a lot of attitude. If you had to choose, which would you choose for your child-or would you allow them to make the choice?

I would say Barbie. The Brat dolls do seem to have attitude and my sister's step daughter tried to where a half shirt and my sister told her she needs more then that on at 8 and she told her well the BratZ dress this way.

Yeah, Shaun, my best friend has a granddaughter who loves those dolls and she wants to wear this type of clothing also. My friend told her sh will not stand for it, lol. She just turned 11.

I don't blame your best friend much at all.

Barbie. I had a ton of Barie's, Skipper's, Ken's, and boxes and boxes of clothes and accessories for them when I was a kid and I turned out just fine. This was before people started complaining about Barbie and she was still skinny with big boobs. Ya know...when she was giving girls "a bad image of how women should be"? What I find funny is, there was such a huge outcry about Barbie's way back when, but there has yet to be one about Bratz. And the Bratz dolls all look like three dollar hookers.

Now, now, nigtvamp, name-calling isn't very nice. I think the Bratz doll is just on the cutting edge of fashion, LOL.

My daughter has both and she loves them so much...If I did have to choose between them I would choose the Bratz, but at the end of the day, they are just dolls.

What you say is true, Calais, but Barbie is more like an institution really. It takes a doll with a powerful draw to go up against Barbie.

I particularly don't like either barbie dolls and really don't like the Bratz dolls. I would prefer if I had a daughter, not to have either.

My children get to make their own decisions but I really don't like bratz! My son bought Niamh a bratz doll for her birthday for tomorrow and insisted she liked them! When they were talking about the Bratz movie earlier she told him she didn't really like Bratz - oh oh! I hope she likes the one Niall bought her but I still don't like them! As for Barbie Mattell are recalling almost a million of them so I think I will steer clear of them right now as well! xxxx

I was never much into dolls myself as a kid, and yet my mom inundated me with Barbies..yuk...LOL--To be honest I didn't know what you were talking about with Bratz...then I checked over the official website..now I'm still not a doll person..but taking a look at Bratz and the interactive website for her...if I had a choice think I'd pick her over Barbie anyday--LOL--As for kids..think they should be able to make the choice themselves

I grew up with Barbie so I'd have to pick her. My niece loves Bratz and wanted to put one on my wedding cake...thank God I talked her out of that lol. AT PEACE WITHIN

Now, i know Barbie would fall over is she were a real person BUT at least you can buy her with respectable clothing. I HATE the Bratz dolls, they look like skanky little things, they might have attitude but they're not very good roll models for girls (skinny & dressed like tarts) & i think i'd rather my daughter dressed like Barbie than like a Bratz doll! I'm sure other people love them but it's the same with my SIL's - i can get their kids a Barbie but they'd all rather the kids didn't have Bratz dolls just coz they're so tacky!

Neither, I don't think either is good for a healthy body image.

if i had to choose it would be the great american barbie doll.i think the bratz dolls are a bad influence on the children today, especially how they act,and dress.kids that admire those bratz dolls will try to mimic their image and its not a good image.at least with barbie she looks like a all american dooll, not looking like a hooker.if my child ended up likeing them i would allow it but they wouldnt dress like that.thank god my babies are small, and maybe the bratz wont be around when my daughter gets older.
