1. gargle with salt water 2. tie a gold chain or amber beed around the neck 3. Put a bandage of red flannel 4. Use camphored oil 5. Salt pork with onions sprinkled with pepper 5. Have a check up with physician and take the prescribed medicine There are people (including me) use the home remedies and only when it all fails, I go to physician. What about you?

If I have a sore throat, I usually drink a lot of water trying to get rid of it. Meanwhile I also take some pills that help. I seldom go to see a doctor for this. I usually go to the pharmacy for some medication for my sore throat and I have some herbal medicine. It is usually boiled with water and it helps.

In these small matters, self help is the best. Thanks for your response.

I am a doctor's daughter and I do not believe in home remedies and therefore I consult my family physician who prescribes some medicine, depending on the condition and if I do one course, it will be alright.

ME, i do gargle with salt water sometimes, but their are medicines for soar throat that you can buy here in the Phils, even without doctors prescription. So we have a onstock medicine at home, so whenever we have soar throat we have the instant remedy.

That is fine. Yes, I understand there are tablets and capsules which does not require physician's prescription. Thanks.

During early signs of sore throat, I immediately apply home remedies like gargling with saline water solution, or drinking ginger mixed with tea or lemon and honey. If the sore throat becomes serious such that I cannot swallow anything anymore because of pain, I would rather take antibiotic as prescribed by a doctor.
