Vista??? UGH!

I have never been more frustrated that I have been this past week with my new computer! Microsoft should know "if it ain't broke don't fix it" Windows XP was heaven compared to Vista. I have everything up to date yet I have seen the message "not responding" to 99.9% of every program I try to open. It took 37 minutes this morning just to get started. Then comes all the alerts from different spy ware systems who want you up grade (and pay for their system) before they can tell you what the alert if for. I have my Norton's spy and virus protection up to date and they show no problems?? Now on top of all that freeking sheet myLot has a notification glitch. So today I will catch up on my phone calls and play online poker (no problems there). Can anyone tell me anything GOOD about Vista?? Please give me some hope!

I got Windows Vista because I assumed it was an improvement over XP. I love the sleek look, but the performance is sub-par. Every time I turn the computer on some program informs me that it doesn't feel like responding today. I had my XP since at least early 2002, and I adored it. Most people I know still swear by Windows XP. Hey, where's Notepad on Windows Vista? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow me on NoMoreCollegeDebt.blogspot.com as I try to make $8k in sixty days using only a computer, a lot of free time, and some determination.

I have 2 ways to get in to notepad. One through my Yahoo toolbar and the other on my email page next to the calendar.

I've been running Vista since February. It's very, very slow. I don't have all of those alerts for spyware systems and all of that. I bought mine at Best Buy and The Geek Squad did their thing to it before I brought it home, so maybe thats why I've never had that problem. It is frustrating that it is so slow. I just need more memory and I think it'll be fine.

I also bought mine at Best Buy and had the Geek Squad do their thing. Plus I paid $129.00 extra to have all my files transferred from old one. I have always had great service from the Geek Squad. Everyone says they will not get Vista until they have to..well I had to it was not a matter of choice.

OMG, Hubby brought home vista from work last week. Soon as I seen it I through myself across my computer and started screaming "NO!", LOL. I asked him what were his intentions, he said “None with your computer that is fore sure. Work gave it to me. So I asked, “what are you going to do with it”, he said this, and he sat it on the shelf where it will stay if we can help it. So one good thing about vista is it hides a dusty spot very well. Da Dah!

Well, most of the time I usually don't have that problem. I had 1 GB of RAM inside of it. The only problem I had was the Windows Explorer not responding but that was about it. I did have those Spyware internet explorers coming out like crazy and now it has slowed down greatly. If you like the way it looks, then yeah. I guess it more or less depends on what you need exactly instead of what's there. Hopefully Vista can get whatever bugs they got in it to be taken care of and gone. I'm not sure what to suggest exactly as for help. That's a tough one. I think more or less it depends on what you need and if the system isn't the right one, then perhaps it wouldn't be a good idea.

There have been a great deal of horror stories associated with Vista, and Microsoft will have to make a vast improvement before I consider using it. Nevertheless, most of the problems are related to hardware compatability, so a new computer should not be giving you so many problems. I suggest that you tone down the security levels and disable some of the unnecessary features to release a little more of the system resources. Microsoft seem to have taken the security issues to the extreme and made the system almost unusable.

I absolutely HATE when you are forced to accept the "newest" system out there when you purchase a computer. I refuse to do it. This is going WAY back but when I purchased my own home computer Windows 95 was being replaced with 98. I refused to accept it and told them I wanted 95 loaded and they could give me the cd to upgrade when and if I desired. I was so happy I did. I finally did upgrade but once the snags were out. Microsoft is famous for putting out programs and letting the consumer alert them to the bugs. It ticks me off big time! I have to purchase a laptop for my daughter and I'm already fighting with them that I refuse to accept the Vista program. It's hilarious because the computer geeks KNOW why but can't say they agree and will try to talk you into the newest versions because they have to. The guy I'm talking to right now keeps saying "Well I know, but um, um, um" I just laugh. Sorry, I'll buy what I want buddy as long as it's my cold hard cash paying for it!!!!!! Sorry you're having issues! Hopefully Microsoft will catch what to do soon and have the famous SP version out soon!

I am been using it now for over 2 weeks and sadly nothing much has changed except I am getting more familiar with the difference between it and XP. It is so slow and constantly seems to go into "not responding" modes.

Well the leaked Windows Vista Service Pack 1 beta is supposed to 'dramatically improve Vista's performance'. So i would recommend trying to get your hands on the Vista Service Pack Beta to improve your operating system. I o not own a copy of Vista yet, like somebody else said, i would rather wait until Vista has all the kinks and flaws straightened out and working properly. Is it easy to upgrade from Windows XP to Windows Vista? Also, is it a much better operating system than Vista? I would like to upgrade soon.

I would never upgrade it unless there was no other choice. So far I have found nothing better than XP

The only good thing I can say about Vista is that you aren;t the only one experiencing problems hun, everyone is having them. I know a lot of people are having major troubles with their instant messengers and such... Boy am I glad I still have XP, I have only had this laptop for a year, so there was no way i was going to buy a new one yet.... Best of luck to you

for me, the XP SP2 that i use now is more than enough to run my spreadsheets and games. I tried installing vista but some of my PCB design simulation programs are incompatible . So i went back to XP and it works fine .

I have not heard anyone say anything good about vista, only that you cannot get xp anymore. Yuck. It is good to know that I am not the only one suffering the notification glitch, though. I will never be all caught up. Going back to my day job, summer is over. My night job just gets more and more hectic. They fired one teenager, and the other one is asking for it, so I am working most of the hours. I hope by the time I have to experience Vista, they will have it ironed out.

vista is irritating one good thing about vista is that it works great with 2 gb ram, 256 mb grapics memory , core 2 i.e. your computer config should be up to date

I wish I could tell you something good about Vista, but I haven't heard anything good about it at all. Just about everyone that has it hates it.

I've had vista since Feb when I got this computer. For the first few weeks I had issues till I tweeked my computer. I turned off all the alerts and deleted damn near all the stupid security software that came with the computer. I then added a different anit-virus system and manually installed all the windows security stuff that I wanted and didn't reinstall the crap I didn't need. After doing that I downloaded the patches for every game and music program I run and I haven't had a problem since. I have about 5 RPG games loaded on here and over 400 songs downloaded now. I don't have any trouble with it running slow or any spyware issues. The only time I get those security pop ups is when I go to load something new or if something is trying to access my computer from another area. It takes a min but after you get it tweeked it works like a dream.
