Pot Roast

I made an old-fashioned pot roast today. It has been many years since I made one, but I just took the notion to do it because I didn't want to use my oven. It turned out very well. The only thing missing was cornbread-it's really good with cornbread. I was wondering if any of you have any good recipes for pot roast that you might share.

I love to put 1 large onion (chopped) into the crock pot with a bunch of mushrooms (I usually do white mushrooms and portabellos) and some potatoes cut into chunks. Then I take a packet of onion mushroom soup mix and mix it with 1 cup of boiling water. Stir it up till it's good and incorporated and pour that over the veggies. Then I put in the roast in and cook it on low for about 6 hours. I check on it periodically, and as the veggies cook, I pull them on top of the meat and let the meat go to the bottom of the pot. It's SO good.

That sounds delicious, wiccania. I have seen them made several different ways. I had a cousin who made the best I ever tasted.

i love a good potroast every now and then i do that too if i dont want to turn my oven on i will put stuff in the crock pot.these are a life saver especially when hot.i make a barbecue one,1 tea spoon of salt, pot roast,1 cup of tomatoe sauce,24 peppercorns,1 small onion chopped,1 tabel spoon of worcestershire sauce.sprinkle your salt over the roast and place in your crock pot, spread your sauce over the meat.imbed your peppercorns into the paste, top with onions and worcestershire sauce and cook about 9 hours on low.its really tasty.great for those hot days.
