After 967,000 of the toys his factory in Beijing had made were recalled in the United States last week, his company's toy export business was being banned. How sad to think there was no other recourse but to take his own life! http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/europe/08/14/tuesday/index.html

When I took Intercultural Communications, I finally realized the importance of knowing about different cultures. In China, everything is about saving face. This man must have felt like he has disgraced his entire family, and to them, the reputation of their name is everything.

It is so amazing how culturally different we are despite being so similar. I would think that this "saving face" was not as strong as it had been in the past, but apparently not.

That is very sad that he felt he had no other way to turn. What is this world coming to that business decisions can cause a person to take his or her own life? So senseless and sad.
