Have you heard of the toxic levels of lead based paint in toys from china - including Elmo, barbie and more? Please go to the Mattel site for more info. What do you think of all of these problems with things from china - from petfood to toys? Is it just a nation trying to emerge or is it failure to regulate stemming from greed? I think its the former, I don't think they want to intentionally hurt anyone - what do you think?

I think the whole thing is so scary! I mean, the kids are in danger from their toys! How horrible is that? I don't want to think that they [toy companies] did it just for greed because that seems so awful to not care if you kill children just for gobs of money. That's too sickening to even think about! I want to believe that they did not know and that now that they've found out, they want to make it right. But it does seem that better regulations might be in order.

I didn't mean the toy companies but the contracters in China. I don't think they're doing it purposefully though. I agree with you there.

I don't know if it's on purpose, but it could be. It could also be pure ignorance. Whatever it is, it's causing major problems here, and I'm surprised we're still doing business with China!

not sure what to say about it. could of been an accident but then again why have any lead based paint in the toy plant to start with. but accidents to happen. anyway my daughter had quite a few of them. her birthday wasn't too long ago and a few toys she got for her birthday were on the recall list.

Noticed no one mentioned that poison was spelled poisen - which I think is how you spell the french fish - can't wait 'till I have enough points to copy and paste - and spell check - 'specially at 1 A.M.!

I've been following this on the news here in the USA. I'm in Arizona for a few months. I will have to check in with my favourite Canadian radio station to see how the reports are up there. Why are we still doing business with China? First the pet food, then some human food, now these toys. haven't we learned our lesson by now?

Perhaps its less expensive for us? I read that they don't regulate a lot of factories and such as far as emitting toxins in the air, which actually effects us eventually in the US...
