Do you ever feel like you could be on 'The truman show'?

ever felt you're being watched? - being on the truman show.

You know what I'm talking about, if you've seen the movie. I'm sure a lot of us felt that way after watching that movie with Jim Carrey. Actually I felt it so much and I still do sometimes. I feel like I'm on my own "the Saba show", where my life and every moment of it is being broadcast and watched by people. It especially feels true, since I have never been out of the tiny peninsula country Bahrain. And I remember one time, when we were supposed to go to the Hawar Islands which is just a boat ride away, but in the same country, there was a mysterious sand storm that no one had predicted and the trip got canceled. Coincidence? or setup? Well, I don't mean to sound all paranoid here, this is just a light discussion, so I hope no one tells me that I'm crazy or something, ha ha, although I just might be. Oh, come on, I'm sure you've felt the same way sometimes especially those of you who've never been anywhere. And especially when there are times that you are into something, or you are talking about something, and the next thing you know the same topic is on the TV, like telling you what to do, subconsciously you take that advice. Have you ever experienced something like that? So tell me, have you ever felt like you are on "the truman show", even if just for a second? P.S: why don't you think about it the next time you think no one's watching and you're thinking about picking your nose?

that's interesting. Yup, I remember watching that movie. It's quite interesting. and messes with your mind. personally I've never felt that way. and perhaps it's more real than we think. for instance there's an amazing amt of cctv in London, even before the terrorist bombings. in singapore they are starting to have more and more cctv. i guess if you're not a criminal you shouldn't be afraid. and it makes me feel a lot safer. I've travelled a lot so i don't feel 'trapped' in any way, or that there are some truman-esque boundaries to my life. although you could extrapolate to the world and say outer space is where we're kinda restricted.

Yeah, that's very interesting, I guess in a way we are all on the Truman show, because our lives are being watched by God, and the earth is our truman world. That's really an interesting thought, you deserve a best response for that.

And also the whole cameras everywhere, well, they do have their pros and cons and as you said, if you got nothing to hide, then you got nothing to be afraid of.

Hi there It happens to me sometimes coz I believe we're not alone in the world. Sometimes i get the feeling i am being watched by other beings (not humans, u know) and I take a few moments thinking about it and say what if they're watching me now. It is kinda a strange feeling.

Yeah, it is. I guess some creatures maybe watching us. Even in the world, I mean like microscopic creatures, we would be giants in their world. Imagine them trying to avoid us while we go about our lives everyday.

ha, yikes, now you got me thinking. like is that why i cannot get out of this rut i'm in? it's non-stop, all the time...can't catch a break ANYWHERE. it's the same ol everyday...and there are goals and hopes and dreams in place...but why all so unattainable? haha! at least that would be a great excuse...then i'd know it was all supposed to be like this...instead of acting depressed and so down on myself for how my life is turning out, HAHAHA!! you're not crazy by the way! you're loved!!

ha ha, well, yeah, sometimes I think that could be just an excuse, but if it were that, then it could be a great reason for not succeeding in moving forward.

Well, if your show is on TV it doesn't come on in America cause I've never seen it :) I do get what you're saying. I used to think about that and how weird that would be if everything was a setup. But I've been out of the country and all over the place so I know there isn't a Rachel Show! I have felt, however, like I was in a movie. For instance, Senior year of high school a fellow class-mate shot and killed himself about 2 weeks before christmas and 3 weeks before his 18th birthday...Last year of High School! I didn't really know the guy but I remember how somber everyone was. Walking through the halls felt like one of those slow motion quiet scenes in a movie where you just know something bad just happened and everyone is focusing. It was the weirdest feeling and I'm not sure if I can really explain it. It's happened a few other times. It's just like .. my life seems to be a scene in a movie or something...you know?

Yeah, I know what you mean. Sometimes it feels like you're watching yourself in a particular scene of a movie. My dreams are all like that.

I think I know what you're talking about.. I have seen the movie years ago but I can still remember crying hours after watching it. It kinda made me felt like we are not really in control of our lives, ala Matrix. If you've read Sophie's world too it will let you feel kind of the same as what I've felt when I finished watching the truman show. I'm not paranoid schizophrenic but there are really times when this kind of feeling (being watched, being told what to do, etc) bothers me at night.

Well, I'm not that paranoid. I guess maybe because even if I were watched, it wouldn't bother me that much. I like the limelight, ha ha.

Thank you, my dancing man is quite popular. Yeah, it is nice when he gets out of the dome, maybe it could even have a sequel, as in how Truman adjusts to the real world, after that all protected existence.

Well I am aware of all the surveliance and technology.. that is watching and monitoring people all the time. I feel like I am caught in an espisode of that alot. But its Half Heaven, Half Hell... Seeing how many times they can jerk the system either way to drive me crazy.. Crazy I claim I am, but psychologists and psychiatrists claim I am perfectly sane... - DNatureofDTrain

Lol I did often think of that, especially just after watching it. I was looking out for cameras everywhere! But then I realised, very cleverly, that if it really were true and I was the centre of a world with everyone watching, they definitely would'nt have let me witness such an eye-opening movie, now would they?? So, I pick my nose, regardless! lol! ;)
