What do you do when you have an appointment and oversleep?

It seldom happens to me but there have been times when I've made an appointment for too early in the morning and I've forgotten to set my alarm. Since I'm the type of person who is usually early for appointments this really drives me crazy! If it's definitely too late to make it to the appointment I'll call them to reschedule and make sure it's for a much later time in the day so that won't happen again. Now this is the bad part....if I only have a short time to get ready and don't have enough time to get there at at least the appointment time...I'll call and cancel in that instance also. I'm no one who can feel rushed. What do you do when you oversleep the day of an appointment? Do you make it a practice to make appointments later in the day so this won't happen to you?

I've missed at least one appointment in the past because I have overslept. I usually make them in the afternoon now instead of the morning, so that I have a better chance of making it and not having to cancel. Plus places like the doctor charge a fee (the place I go to charges $25) if you reschedule less than 24 hours before the appointment. Luckily I haven't been charged (knock on wood) as I wouldn't want to pay that. :P

The boot is usually on the other foot for me. I get up long before most people even think about getting up let alone make appointments! It is usually I who am kicking my heels waiting for someone to come at 7am. haha I'm never in bed before midnight and up at 5am. Too much time is wasted in bed!!

My first fail-safe key is my wife and the second one is alarm clock. If both are bypassed, then I have to forego the appointment and cut sorry figure.

Hi, normally i dont ever miss out, but for one instance that too as my younger one wasnt too well that day, so missed setting the alarm, as i was baby sitting her the night beofre. Otherwise i am very particular and set the alarm well in advance. But incase you do feel its tough to get up the next morning or youd not be able to make it so early, its better to set a comfortable time, that would suit you, maybe around 10-11 or so, so that you have enough time for things. Though i am also an early bird and prefer finishing my tasks in the early part of the day, so am very particular regarding time , and generally stick to it, and incase things have to be resheduled, then i keep the appointment for the next day, morning itself, each one to their own choice and preference i guess.

I hate anyone being late to appointments. So I always go on time if I have any appointments with others. But there is a little strage for me. If I have somewhere that I need to be early the next morning, I will be too exicting to alseep this night. That is to say , I will stay awake in bed during the whole night. Maybe I am afraid to miss the appointments and worry about it too much. I also konw that I haven't need to do that. But I can't help doing so.

OMG I would be absolutely sick, I am a fanatic about being early, I alway have 2 alarm clocks for when I have to get up early, one electric and one battery one, just in case the electricity goes off over night, I just can't handle being late, I am always at least 15mins early where ever I go...

this seldom happens to me too. before i sleep i always make sure that i set my alarm clock. even if i forget it, i still usually wake up early. ^__^ i think the last time this happened to me was when i was in college. we had an exam in the next morning and i overslept! when i arrived at our classroom they were already starting. but then, i got high score there. LOL when this happen to me i cut through my routine. like. when taking a bath, i cut the part when i apply conditioner. and then, after that, i'll just comb my hair on the way to school. or i wont eat breakfast... or i'll just pick any clothes and dont bother to choose. LOL things like that...

I hate being late to appointments too and if I do think I will oversleep, I set my cell phone alarm clock just so I can be there early. I have on occasion missed an appointment and have called to apologise and reschedule. Most of the time they are really good about it when I do do that.

It would be impossible for me to count the number of appointments I have missed through oversleeping, ctry. Suffice it to say that I do not use an alarm clock since I really am a night owl two-thrds of the year. If I have somewhere that I need to be early, I will usually just stay up all night and start getting ready in time to keep my appointment. This does, however, backfire on me sometimes. I have managed to stay awake until five or six in the morning and suddenly be overtaken by sleep. That's when I definitely miss my appointments. But, yeah, I just reschedule. I rarely will take an afternoon appointment because I just prefer morning appointments.

If I remember to call I do but I've forgotten alot of time and had to call them later.I have a real hard time getting up in the morning.I have to force myself out of bed sometimes and I take forever trying to get ready.

I am not a morning person. I will usually do my best to make it which means brushing teeth while I throw on clothes...no time for makeup, shower....quick wash up and out the door. I try to set up appts. late morning or afternoon because this rushing really makes for a bad start to te day.

Since you are the type of person who is usually early for appointments, it's a little hard to imagine that you had forgotten to set the alarm.I guess it's not an important appointment. But you are a person who really hate to be late.It may help if you buy more alarms and put them somewhere easy to be seen. For me, if there is an important appointment, I always wake up many times before the alarm alarms.I really hate that beacause it's usually a bad sleep.

Hi there. Ive never overslept when Ive had an appointment... If I did I would've made an effort to call and ask for 5-10 minutes time extention, re-scheduled or canceled for a later date... I dont like to be left in the lurch and waiting with no reply, so I wouldnt leave anyone else in that situation either...

It's been a long time since I've overslept. But I'm one who can get ready in an instant and run out of the house. So if it's important that's what I'll do. I usually don't reschedule things because I usually scheduled them when I did for a reason. But I also never make things so early that there is a chance of oversleeping, except maybe work!

I overslept one time on the first day of my new job, I woke up about 15 minutes before having to start. Ofcourse I could not call to cancel so I had no other choice then rush. I have the alarm clock 10 minutes later, so I am always in time. And it never has happened to me again. I am the type of person who rahter is early then late or on time
