A Need Met

I wasn't sure if I wanted to post about this, but I guess when a person shares the bad, they should share the good. I couldn't go to church today because of the flood waters in my area. However this afternoon, I was able to talk to my parents. Some of you may remember my discussion about needing clean air. I wanted an air purifier, but I couldn't afford one. When you're on SSI, you really don't have an opportunity to save, all the money is used even if you are super thrifty. So I didn't know what to do about smelling like a cigarette (due to smoke from neighbors apartments), and the increased migraines due to the smoke. Now back to talking to my parents. They were talking to a man in the church about my problem, and he said he had an air purifier and he had only used it once or twice. He bought it because he used to smoke, but he gave up smoking soon after. He offered it to my parents to give to me for free. So my parents told me whenever I can, they have it the back of their car! Isn't that wonderful? Today I was just down. I was really scared the waters were going to come into my apartment, and I like going to church and being with other people. But this just reminded me that everythng eventually works out. I would never imagined that it would work out in this manner, but the Lord really showed me that while I thought I had a lot of trust, I didn't have as much as I thought. And I'm thankful He provided anyway. I don't want to be so selfish as to not ask about you guys, so have you ever had a need that was really legit, but you saw no way for it to be met? Was it met in an unexpected way? Thanks for listening to my little ramble. : )

I have had many that have been met. I raised three kids by myself and there were times when I didn't think I would have enough money to feed them....and sometimes there would be a check in the mail.....and one time my car broke down. I didn't say anything to anyone and I was sitting in my chair crying and there was a knock on the door and there stood my dad, with a car for me that worked. He had driven over two hundred miles to bring the car for me so the kids and I had transportation......God certainly does work in mysterious ways!

Oh, G-d has many times had used people to help us out. One time that really stands out is my husband and I were about 100 miles from home visiting this speaker. They had taken up an offering and of course my husband pulled out some money to put into the offering plate thinking he had gas money in another pocket. When it was over, I got a tap on the shoulder and this woman behind me said the L-rd told her to give this to us. It was a twenty and at the same time my husband was looking for the money for the gas and then knew that he didn't have any.. So it was like, we got an answer to prayer before knowing we needed prayer...

That's really incredible. God gives me goosebumps sometimes because he absolutely takes me by surprise. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but the Lord is really creative in providing for us, isn't He? : )

You getting the air purifier is an answer to pray. I prayed for you to get one and I am sure others here on mylot also prayed for you. There have been times in my life where my faith was shaky but God still met my needs even though my faith was small.

Very nice, thanks for sharing. We must always keep the faith. Sometimes things happen that seem bad (like not going to church because of the flood) but in reality this was probably in God's plans all along. And he did answer your prayers and he provided. This is an uplifting story. There have been many cloase calls in my life where I've almost been run over by a car, I think god was protecting me though thru these instances.

He sure does. And I never want to forget that, especially in the bad times. I don't want to be the type of person who only rejoices when things are going well.

I would say you are pretty lucky to be able to get a free air purifier. Congrats for getting fresh air henceafter. Indeed your experience is another proof of a blessing in disguise. As what I have heard and accepted, there is no accidents nor coincidences. Tnere is always a reason for any thing that happen. I found it rather true after some recollections of events. It is only when we are aware of whatever happens around us that we will find that our needs are often met.

That is a very wise observation.
