I have a first time"wedding"invitation!and need your help!

I need some ideas of what color of dress and tux shirt that you usually wear to something like this.Its our first invitation to a wedding(family) and i have NO idea of what colors are appropriate for me and color of dress shirt for my hubbys tux.I was thinking a cream color but im not sure if its to blah.Its on September 6,we just got the invitation.Talk about going fast!I would really appreciate your input.Plus,what kind of gift do you usually buy,not a toaster for sure!

Don't wear Black, it'll make you look unhappy for the happy couple.
Don't wear White, that's what the bride is supposed to wear.
Don't wear something that will make you stand out more than the bride, because the Bride is supposed to be the focus of the wedding. So...you know bright colors or something.
Neutral is good. Cream works. Blues or greens. Browns of course work also. The best is to just wear something nuetral and nice that won't stick out too much!

Thats what i was kinda thinking a cream colored knee high dress,but about my huddy i hate white shirts.Its sooo boring.Maybe a light color for him too for under his tux?I find a man sexy in a tux.Grrrrrrr.Thanks for your delighted input!

Oh totally. Your husband doesn't even have to wear a tux to be honest. I mean he can just do the nice dress pants and dress shirt. Doesn't have to go full out with tie and jacket. So, yeah, it's ok to wear a light colored shirt. He doesn't have to stick to the black and white!
