I opened my email today and this is a very brief summary of what I received - I have a bank cheque for $500,000 waiting for me I've won three lotteries I have 4 different job offers If I totalled all my loan approvals I'd have millions I have two packages waiting for collection Oh an if I was a man the women would be absolutely loving me And that's not to mention an annoying one I get everyday to increase my website traffic by thousands a day - but to get off the list (which I don't know how I got on in the first place) I have to open an attachment Ahh if only my luck was even half that good :-) One of these days I'm going to come up with a totally foolproof way to stop these emails - lol and then I may really be rich :-)

I heard you! I think I get about 25 a day saying I have an inheritance, or they chose me since there was no living relatives. What I really find scary is that people believe this crap! It's amazing that they are really able to find people to give them all their personal information.

And what I find really scary is that so many of these "lotteries" are using household name companies. Some are using Microsoft, some Coke, and just about all other name brands. It really troubles me. I know I don't want anyone policing the Internet and checking all emails sent and received, but it would stop some of the scams. But then there goes another piece of freedom.

You're right in that unfortunately some people do believe it and will fill in the details or whatever is required - and that's just what keeps it going - for every thousand they send out if they even get one back they've (the scammers) have made their money. And yes the household names one is a major concern in that regard - for quite awhile (and probably still) there was a yahoo one going around - something along the lines of yahoo.com has selected your email to win $500 or something like that

Ha yeah i thought you were serious when i first started reading your discussion! Yes seriously why would you fall for soemthing as stupid as that-'OMG I won a million dolars!" Except you never entered a draw? Do you think you're stupid or something? If you think you've seriously won so much money and you haven't entered a competition then it's your own fault for getting ripped off I think~

Yes it's their own fault for falling for it - but I can't help but wonder and to some extent worry about some people that do fall for it - unfortunately there's a lot of people around that just don't know any better or don't understand how these things can possibly be a rip-off or harmful to their computer etc. Particularly, as mentioned above, when somehow these spam/scam artists get away with using brand names to to get your money or details etc. Of course then there's those that figure what they hey I know it's probably a scam but I'm gonna try it anyway - thinking they have nothing to lose only to find that they either end up losing a lot of money or all their personal information gets used for not so legitimate purposes etc. Those people really should have known better and trusted their instincts.

man, if we are not rich like millions, then atleast these spams or mails keeps telling us that money cant be earned easy, fight for it and you will get, so if you stop them, who is goin to remimd you that you have nt earned those millions yet, once you have millions you wont have time to read all these mails

Lolz, I still remember the first time I received an e-mail like this, I think it was the one about me inheriting an old man's property in Africa, or was it the English lottery thing? Hahaa I think I was 12 years old but good thing I've already about these kinds of things. I'd also have millions if I believed them! The scary thing was my father did believe in one e-mail that said something like this and he actually replied!~ And the person was also replying back! Good thing I caught my father and told him that he should stop because she was getting persistent. Good thing nothing happened. Hehe.

Knowing all these lottery scams received through emails, it is not uncommon to think that people do fall for these. When I first received such a mail, I thought I am gonna be a millionnaire but on second thought, such things don't come so easily. Only after googling and finding out about these scams, I finally gave up the thought of getting rich so easily. To err is human and I can understand why some people simply fall for these scams coz they are desperately in need of money. Not that they are greedy but they are driven by circumstances.

I used to receive a lot of spam mail too, but one day they just stopped. Funnily, instead of feeling happy or relieved, I actually felt lonely. It felt like the spammers forgot me or abandoned me. .
