Do you feel good when you SMILE to people you don't know?

Hi, today while I was walking on the street I was sad but thought to myself that I shouldn't feel down and make it be seen by the people that were passing by, so I lifted my head and smiled while looking the people in their eyes. Something strange happened and almost all of these people smiled back at me too, and this made me feel really good all at once.
When I came home I started wondering how come I didn't do this berfore, and promised myself that when I feel down like I felt today I will go out and take a walk and start smiling at everyone, knowing now that it will make me feel great again. Have you done it yourself, or would you consider doing it if not?

that, i think, is good. smiling at people and getting it back is so delightful, i am sure it brightens up a day. pity this sort of thing doesnt happen in india or i would be out more often.

Hiya Apple, I am sorry really that this isn't happening in India. Will people not react as everywhere else, with a friendly smile back, because you have greeted them in this way? I myself was surpriced that about 98% of the strangers that I encountered while walking home, returned the smile. It seems like everyone feels better, and is ready to return the favor, so to say :)

Well dear, there is one thing you could do, start doing it and you'll see that by being the first you might bring a new wave of the smile exchange - feeling great - kind of thing in India :) You'll never know until you try it,and don't get discouraged if people dont reply right away with a smile back, simply keep doing it and it will make you feel better :)

yes it is a favour in todays time to smile at some one i guess. and amazingly we lack that a lot in india, i wish people knew what smiles could do.

well tats a nice experience... i do smile at other people occasionally and i receive good smiles back too but children are the ones i never miss to smile at and i thoroughly love smiling at them and receiving their million dollar smile back....it sure soars my spirit , inspires me and makes my day....

Yeah....and pretty sure, YES. I never bother about the reflection from that people that will be. As far as I'm the one who do it first. A good self motivation for me. So far good business there will be with that person...and proven even though at low percentage....and what a good reminiscence that we enjoy after that....Hahhhhhh...

I have done this too, it really does improve my mood prety quickly. I think just smiling in general improves a persons mood but it is allways an added bonus when you make another person smile too. keep smiling!
