My kids have a black cat named Charley Bear. He is very playful but hasn't really played much in the last week and we notice he had frequent hairballs. A few days ago my daughter says, "Mom I think our cat has asthma, he is weezing alot." I said, "cats don't have asthma!" Actually I have no idea whether cats have asthma or not but that was my response. This morning I saw that cats dish was empty so I went to fill it up. He runs to his eating area when he sees me there and I notice this weezing my daughter was talking a bout a few days ago. I pick him up to investigate and notice the collar he has had on since we got him about a month ago is so tight it is strangling him! I grab some scissors to cut it off, the collar is so tight I can't even get the scissors through to cut it. I just prayed for the Lord to help me because the cat was getting worse, you could see he couldn't breath! I finally got the collar off and noticed that collar was embedded in his neck! The poor thing, I didn't realize he grew so fast! It is a miracle that cat lived! He has been going around for at least a week not being able to breath! I know I sound like a terrible cat owner, I am so sorry, I didn't even notice. In my defense, I don't play with the cat, he makes my eyes itchy. He is for my kids enjoyment, but they apparently didn't notice. He is now safe and having a good breathable sleep now!

thank god you did realize that there was something really wrong with the cat... most people dont think that there animals are getting any bigger because they are around them all the time. i dont blame you at all. i have a cat and my husband absolutly hates cats, but there sre some things he notices that i dont again i am the one always around her..i also have two dogs but the one thing that i do on a daily basis is check their collers. i have a friend that never checked them and it also got imbedded and that was very bad it was the most aweful thing i have ever seen.. so i check.. hopefully you will do the same so this dont happen again, i am very glad the cat is doing well..good catch

Thank goodness you noticed in time. I guess this is a good lesson that we should listen to our kids more carefully. They are smarter than we give them credit for. Hopefully your cat has a long and happy life left ahead of him.
