what's your favorite board game?

board game - A board game is a game played with counters or pieces that are placed on, removed from, or moved across a "board" (a premarked surface, usually specific to that game). Simple board games often make ideal "family entertainment" since they are often appropriate for all ages. Some board games, such as chess, go/weiqi, xiangqi, shogi, or oware, have intense strategic value and have been classics for centuries.

There are many different types of board games. Many games simulate aspects of real life. Popular games of this type include:

Monopoly, which simulates the real estate market
Cluedo/Clue, which simulates a murder mystery
Risk, which simulates warfare
Other games only loosely, or do not at all, attempt to imitate reality. These games include:

abstract strategy games like chess, checkers or go
word games, like Scrabble
trivia games, like Trivial Pursuit.
combination games, like Brain Chain, which mix abstract strategy with trivia.

when i was young, i always play monopoly with my cousins. we have different kinds of monopoly. we have monopoly (the standard), monopoly junior and monopoly new york. but i think my favorite board game before was cluedo. it's a murder mystery game. you have to find clues to solve the mystery and find out who the murderer is, where the victim was killed, and what the murder weapon is. but now, my favorite game is scrabble. i often play it with my mom. just the two of us. hehe. =)

I think snakes and ladders and monopoly would have to have been mine as well, I saw on Ebay the other day and Elvis Presly Monopoly game that I think would be a great variation on the game.

Oh! My friend and I bought the Elvis version of Monopoly quite a few years ago. It was quite cool. We used to play it at least once or twice a week. Then we got bored and created our own version based on the Monkees, another 60's music group. It was great. I even printed up fake money for the game with the Monkees' guitar logo in the middle. That might well have been my favorite board game ever just because it was something my friend and I worked on together.

My all time favorite board game is candy land. I know its a little kids game but its always been my favorite. I think that game is so cute!!! And they conme out with all these different versions of it to which is really neat.

my all time favorite board game is scrabble.. i started playing it since i was in elementary.. actually, i used to be a player, as rrepresentative of our team in the scrabble tournament during our entramurals... my opponent then was our first honors, second honors and the third honors.. well, i got the first place... until now, i play scrabble which my husband's favorite too.. also word factory...

I don't have the vocabulary to play Scrabble. My favorite board game is Sorry.It is like parcheesi but it has easier rules. It is for kids but I love it.

When i was much younger monopoly was also a favorite of mine..but that has changed now and i prefer to play backgammon now..perhaps cause that's what my friends play all the time..heehehe..

Hello Josan181237, When I was a kid, we used to play Checkers, Chess, Chinese Checkers and War. Through college, the games of the day were Trivial Pursuit and Backgammon. Then, in my late twenties, I was introduced to Scrabble. And, there's been no looking back since. I do love to play Scrabble. My husband and I will still occassionally play Chess, but far and away, my favorite is Scrabble.

I remember playing monopoly all the time when I was younger and used to love playing the game as well , but the game that I used to like even more then monopoly was Risk . I am not sure how we used to play the game but it had something to do with taking countries from other people and you had to have a stradegy to gain control of everything on the board . I would love to try this as an adult to see if it is still as much fun as I had when I was younger but I haven't seen it sold anywhere . I bought monopoly for the children but they don't seem to have as much interest in playing that one as I did as a child .

My favorite board game is Trivial Pursuit. I have a hard time getting my family to play it with me, but then again, I don't like their favorite game, which is Scrabble.

My favorite board game now is pictionary. I like it because its very challenging and brings out your creativeness when playing. Its fun to play it with your family and friends in the house, picnics or outings. When I was a kid we used to play millionares game and scrabble too.

I love to play Monopoly! I used to play a lot when I was a child. Later I found out Monopoly online and it was great. I cheated a lot, though :) I like to play Master (I don't know if it is known in other countries).

My favorite board game is backgammon. We have several Monopoly games, but don't play those too often. Clue is fun. Have you seen the DVD called Clue? It is so very funny..

Monopoly is fun for like 20 minutes then I want to go crazy. It takes way too long. I like Scrabble, Upwords, and Pictionary, if that is considered a board game. None really keep me from getting bored though. I need 100 things happening or I get ansty. Trivia Pursuit is fun, if that is considered a board game. The 80's one is enjoyable because "I love the 80's"!

me and my boyfriend play monopoly once every couple weeks. I had Clue as a child and it was cool. I like the old classic board games i guess. but monopoly is still number one in my book.
