Dogs or Cats????

I think dogs are better to be a pet. They don't only serves as pets but also a sort of security guard in the house at night, especially if your house doesn't have a gate. They are perfect pets. And cats? aside from hunting mice, what else can they do? Would you choose dog or cat?
