Do you donate to animal charities? If so, what do you give?

Animal shelters always need lots of different items, such as money, cat and dog food, towels, beds, and so on. Do you donate any of these items? If so, how often do you do it? I donate whenever I can. I donate pet food and bedding and also towels.

Yes - very much so. I have three direct debits taken from my salary every month that go to 3 different charities here in the UK that look after ill-treated, stray cats. I also do voluntary work for the Cats Protection league at the weekends. I have also "adopted" 4 cats that cannot be rehomed for different reasons, and I pay a donation each year to make sure they have adequate food and shelter. Unlike in some other countries, here in England no animal is ever euthanased just because it is unwanted - it will only be put down if it has an incurable disease and it's quality of life is suffering. But there are some cats that are perhaps too Feral, or have some diaabilities that would not let them fit into a home envornomenmt, so they are the type I have adopted. Plus all 6 of my own sweet cats here at home with me were rescue cases.

That is just great. You have done a lot for the animals, and especially cats, that is where my heart is too. I like the way the UK does not euthanize except in extreme cases. I think that is only fair. Thank you for all the things you do to help cats and save their lives.

Well thanks for your nice words. Guess to me it is only the natural thing to do. We are fortunate - both me and my partner work - we have a nice house, and although we're not "wealthy" we're not poor either, - and I was always bought up to try and help those less fortunate! Cats and animals are my passion - it's only normal for me to do what I can for them.

We donate our time and energy to our local animal shelter. We will go in and do all the things like clean cages, clean litter pans, and all kinds of other stuff that needs doing, we go a soften as we can. Most of the time it is my daughter and I and on occasion, if I cannot go, my husband will go with our daughter, we also donate bottled water through the summer months for all of the volunteers, it gets pretty darned hot around here in the summer, and the place is not that well air conditioned, it is a very small local animal shelter, but it keeps getting better all the time thanks to the efforts that the volunteers put in and from donations. Right now fortunately we have alot of food for all the animals, our town was recently flooded, and the donations came pouring in from all over the place. But when it gets down to where they are needing food, we will be donating a 50 lb. bag of dog food and a 50 lb bag of cat food a month.

I haven't yet, but we adopted a dog from the pound and I am planning on setting up a schedule to go and help there with the animals. I also have been saving Best Choice UPC symbols because one of the animal organizations here in my state uses that money to help spay and neuter animals. I am not sure how much money the get per lable, but I am trying to send 100 at a time.
