The only child

The only child gets all the attention and affection from the parents. But he feels lonely. Moreover parents over-protect him and he becomes more dependent and is not able to face the challenges of out-side world. Grand paretns living in the family may have adverse effects on the development of the child. A grandmother giving protection to a child when he is punished for his mistake by the parents will make him lose respect for his parent. The child starts manoeuvring parents and grand parents to his advantage.

While some of what you are stating here might be true, I do not agree withall of it. I am an only child, and know how good I was at manoeuvring my grandfather into protecting me all the time and get all that I wanted. On the other side however I was mature much earlier than all of my friends that did have sister and brothers. By being most of the time with adults a child gets grown up more rapidly. And to the contrary of what you are saying - that such a child will not be able to face the challenges of life - it doesn't count fort every only child and it depends on many other things, such as education, and relationship with othersd outside the family.
