I'm sure most of you heard about the Michael Vick case. For those who didn't, he is a pro football player who got caught staging dogfights with pitbulls. He and his buddies would kill the pitbulls that didn't perform well by electrocution, hanging or drowning and and other means. Yesterday he had a press conference and he was acting all remorseful and said he found Jesus. Yeah right!! I mean, come one! Why do they always get religion when they face the slammer? BS I say! Now he apparently might only get 12-18 months in a low security jail. What??? This guy needs to do some hard time! He is the epiphany of evil and shouldn't even dare call himself a human being! I hope, when he goes to jail,he has to fight for his life every single day, like he made those poor dogs do!

It is indeed disgusting though I can't fault them in their tactics. A lot of people wouldn't hesitate to use anything and even the name of God just to get out of the mess that they have created. Shame on them.

I find it amazing how all these celebrities "find God" when they are about to get locked up. I think it's bogus and I don't believe it for a minute.

I have not heard of Michael Vick, But I can totally agree with you. I hate people who are mean to animals, you are right he should get more. Because this just looks like a small warning, I bet it won't prevent him from doing it again

I saw videos of the dog fights and heard the awful details. I was so shocked to hear this! I'm so sick of these high profile "stars" getting special treatment! It's sickening. He should of found Jesus a long time ago when he was thinking about being so cruel. I think he should get a dose of his own medicine.

He has not been sentenced yet and could get up to 5 years jail time. I think he is really going to feel the repercussions in his wallet. Lose of his very lucrative Nike contract and $22 million signup bonus according to the Atlanta Falcons owner and the following article: Goodell freed the Falcons to "assert any claims or remedies" to recover $22 million of Vick's signing bonus from the 10-year, $130 million contract he signed in 2004. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,294495,00.html

I think he needs to feel it physically as well. He needs to do some hard labor at an animal shelter, community service and other things.

thats all he MIGHT get?! jeezu..another prime example of being a celebrity and getting a slap on the wrist. and you right, they ALWAYS find jesus suddenly out of the blue dont they?! IF he does get jail time, he will get special treatment just like paris and the other morons do, he wont be in the general population. Unfortunatly. it is disgusting..and very disheartening.

It sure does seem like the law is only written for the common people. I hope he gets a judge who owns a pitbull and LOVES dogs, maybe then he'll go away for the maximum allowed.

So now he's being religious. What an a** ! Sorry.. If he really said that he found Jesus, then I'm definitely with you. It made me furious after reading your post. I just searched about him and his pit bull case yesterday and when I saw the pictures of pit bulls right after they fight, I was like. How evil these people are! Don't they have any mercy for these poor dogs! :( I can't in it words how I mad and sad I am since I am really a dog lover and I can't stand to see those dogs getting injured and even killed. I just hope all those who are engaged into dog fights will serve justice. Not just months but for years!

Mind you, this sort of thing does not only take place in the United States. I have a feeling it also happens here in the Philippines. I often see men taking their pitbulls somewhere, probably for a dogfight.

Yeah wisedragon.. Probably here in the Philippines too. I think it was a few months ago when I heard of dog fights in the Philippines.. But I haven't heard anyone who got caught and arrested here for doing that. But hopefully, people will inform the police about it.

The weird thing is, I have never heard of Micharl Vick until the incident was in the news. I would think that being that it was said that he probably would not play professional football again, that would be a somewhat harsh punishment. It depends on that indefinite suspension stands, & assuming that no one else hires him for other things, like commercials, a part in a movie or TV show, etc.

It's just wrong how anyone could find doing things like this acceptable. And while on the one hand it seems like it's not right to just apologize later and hope to be forgiven, on the other hand he should definitely apologize. I hope he and his associates realize how wrong their actions were, and I hope they serve as an example to others not to do things like this to animals.

Nope. Never heard of the man and I've only heard about his passtime here. For every man caught there must be hundreds out there still doing it. Horrible way to have 'fun'.

Yet again we see our justice system not being upheld equally. You can bet that his money bought his high priced, high-dealing attorneys. If you or I had done the acts that he did, we'd be UNDER the jail for years. I get nauseated when I think about how unfair our justice system is. As for finding Jesus in the face of jail and restitution, it never ceases to amaze me.

What a joke standing in front of the cameras and saying "I am so sorry" he isn't sorry and he needs to be severely punished. It gets me sick just looking at his face and listening to him.

I myself hate pitbulls, but I now realize that humans can be far worse animals and far more evil! I mean, why torture those dogs? Maybe if they have harmed a human, but certainly not for losing a dogfight -- a choice it didn't make on its own!

Hi there. As caring and responsible pitbull owners ourselves we watched in horror the news of this case, we think hes simply what one would call a "cruel ruthless brute" that deserves to feel what those poor dogs felt... Our dog is like part of the family and pitbulls are very intelligent and caring dogs, when there let to be and cared for... I think 12-18 months is just a pathetic term and such a light penalty to serve... Who and what was the judge thinking??? Have a great day...

I have'nt heard of the news, but that awful what he does. Those dogs does'nt deserved those kinds of cruelty. I owned a dog pitbull once and she's very kind and playful. I agree with you, I think he should get more jail time than that for what he did.

He makes me sick standing there acting all contrite and saying he suddenly found religion. No man who electrocuted, body slammed, and did the other things to dogs that he did will suddenly be all sorry. All he is sorry about is that he got caught. The NFL makes me sick. FIRE HIM. He's a rotten person, a sadistic, cruel, sick guy who needs help.......behind bars. Maybe once he is the one in the cage, the other prisoners will show him what it's like to be trapped and unable to defend yourself. They don't take kindly to celebs or to animal abusers. He should be stuck in jail for the full 5 years, do community service, be banned from football, and get psychiatric treatment. Ugh.

Yea I heard about it too, my head exploded. -_- Another celeb given a slap on the wrist because in the US power, money and entertainment are the new gods. Sigh... As for the punishment of Vick, I'm not opposed to using my punter idea. Just take Vick by the head, and kick him up one side of the states and down the other.[/sarcasm] At least its a start.
