in these times of all sorts of cyber crime and stuff, you don't want anybody you just met, or somebody you don't really know in person to gather critical information about yourself. better be safe than sorry. but then there are also cases that online acquaintances can become a bridge for a long and lasting friendship. but then, it is up to you to take the risk.

i dont think i would do that too. Not unless of course i trusted the person whom i had given my personal info. You know at the net their are a lot of untrust worthy indiviual at the net and Aside from that i needed a little privacy for myself and im thinking posting my personal information at the net will absolutely affect that privacy i needed!

hi sheen... you are absolutely right, its better to be cautious rather at the beginning than being sorry at the end. another side of the story is that a very good friend of mine got married to a guy whom, she met through the internet an year back and both r staying happily... and she says this guy is the best thing that ever happend to her! its upto us to choose the trust worthy one. hw wud u define such a trust worthy individual? think i got u with this one... tough question?? pls let me know....

yeah pretty tough question, and i think my nose are bleeding now coz i dont know how to answer that one. hahhahaah!!! Well i guess little by little as u get acquinted you will just feel who's sincere from who is not. But of course feelings are not reliable but somehow sure it helps...:)What is more important is that u are true to them and if they are not its their lose not urs! got it buddy? would u agree to that? :)

untrustworthy person are someone who just uses another for their personal advantage. A deceiver and someone who seems so nice and devilish inside...hehehehe. someone who is wearing wearing a mask. In short someone who is untrue. I dont really know how to define it because, so far in my experienced at the net and in real life i have never been decieved by anyone or that was just i thought...

I would just atleast give them my name, but not my complete name. My age, I think I would if I was asked. But other than that, I would keep my personal information. As you've said, there are lots of people who uses the net so I think it would be better if we atleast give ourselves some privacy. many would like to use the net by fooling others, making modus-operandi's by using other people's personal information. So to keep ourselves away from these things, it's better to always be careful in dealing with people online.

entirely agree with you that posting private information on a public platform cannot be said to be a very healthy practice. There should be dividing line between making a private details public. You cannot go beyond an extent. I certainly hesistate to share my private life on a public platform. I see some of the disussions are started in such a manner that you are asked to divulge about your personal and private details. And while asking, they divlulge their very private details without any inhibition. I wonder what prompts the host to start such a discussions. If I have to answer such discussions, I keep my response restricted and try not to divulge more details. I do not feel comfortable divulging each and every details of my very private life. I do not press anyone here to divulge their private details in discussions. If someone reveals too much and if he or she is close, I would politely advice him/her that not to divulge such and such details so as not to face any problems in future.

Same here, I would not give everything about me if I just met someone thru internet or thru some information. Not to deceive people but just for protection. Although sometime, I am wondering, why I have lots of emails on my mail and they came to know my number. So if they know my number it is possible that they knew about me. Can we say that these email provider and maybe also the mylot the source of information.

Hi, For me it depends. Before I give the person my address I will consider my belief on him/her. If s/he is trust worthy, I have no problem to give him/her my address or other detals.

personally, I dont want to give away my personal info to someone I barely know.. It's just so scary now-a-days. Knowing that there are tons or psychos out there who are just waiting for their next victims! hahaha.. goodluck to those who tend to give all their info! ~_^

no like you said only if i trust them because you dont know what they could do with your details which would be really scary not knowing how what they are doing efect you in the future.

I wont unless it will be necessery to give my person info to the person or a website while registering myself with otherwise its too dangerous and risky to leak out your personal information over the internet ......but sometimes we need to sacrifice a little with the risk when there is obligations .........

Hi Frozen2ice, It depends really. While I had a business online the address and contact details were there for everyone to see and take and I have never had any problem with it ;) To friends that i make online - goes the same - I have never had any problems -Thanks God for that too, but I listen very closely to my intuition and if the inner bells remains quit I know - all will be fine ;)
