Managing your Head-Staff Relationship???

I quite sometime find it very difficult to manage my relationship with my boss! Aside, from the fact that he's a little boastful and arrogant, he doesn't listen to suggestions, besides he never ask for opinions! Ever since I was in this job he never ask me how am i going? or Am i ok? do i fully understand everything? I sometimes feel he's kinda insecure with me, coz there's few things that i know and hes doesn't, e.g. video editing, adobe photoshops, flash movies... And the worst part is HE'S VERY DEMANDING!!! Are all BOSS's like mine? Can someone tell what to do? Or how to manage the situation? Coz actually, I'm thinking bout resigning because of him.
