I found a dead bird on my door step, and my dog was outside so i know he killed it and put it on my doorstep and i heard this is a sign of loyalty to their owners, has anyone ever experienced this before or know why my dog did this?

Dogs and cats do this to get praise....mine do it all the time so I did some research on it....they need to be recognized by their owners as good hunters

When we lived in the country we had 2 cats and a dog. we had the cats longer than the dog which we got as a puppy. The cats would take the dog hunting and taught her to catch rabbits. The dog as well as the cats would brinng us preasents. The dog brought 2 baby rabbits that she caught but hadn't killed. We rescued the rabbits before she could do them any real damage and when they were healed we took them far from the house and turned them loose again. I thought that it was strange that the cats took the dog hunting with them all the time.

It was kind of strange to watch the old mothr cat followed by her son then thhe dog taking up the rear. They would all set on the front lawn facing each other like three old ladies visiting over coffee. I wish I had thought to get some pic. They are all gone now.

Well I have to say I find it very strange for a Dog to do that none of my Dogs that I have had over the Years have ever done this Cats do it all the time as it is their sign of Loyality and affection to the Owner but I have not heard of Dogs doing it before
