Let me share my day

My day started out fabulous I woke up feeling very well compared to usual and I decided I was going to to the city to see my daughter and my two grandchildren. I made coffee and a lunch and had it in the fridge for my husband and his brother and off I went. I was a bit upset to find I was too late to go with my daughter to take my grandson to school but I felt better to see her come home with a Tim Hortons coffee for me. We had a good day. I spent the day visiting then I went to superstore I bought groceries and then I set for home. I was driving down the highway, thank goodness it's a divided highway. I had a semi transport truck ahead of me and for some reason he was way under the speed limit and I had a semi transport behind me who was doing speed plus. I pulled out and passed the semi and about the time I was half way point of taking the right lane my car died completely and I knew the semi behind me had already pulled out to pass the semi ahead of me and me too. I had no time to continue right and I went back to the left and managed to take the ditch. All I could hear was gears and I sat there for awhile shaking so bad I thought I'd die. I tried my car and it did start. No one stopped traffic continued. This is the fourth time my Buick has done this. I have been to two of the best mechanics around and I've had almost 800.00 worth of work done and they can't seem to find the problem. I've had parts replaced the whole nine yards but no luck. We have talked about a new vehicle so I guess this is the plan. I looked at a Kia and I didn't mind it too much. My car is a 1994 Buick Century. It owes me nothing, it's been a good car, but I may have to push it into the bone yard. It's a darn shame it doesn't burn a drop of oil between oil changes. I know the original owners and that car has always been maintained. I had a paint job done, no one believes me that it's a 1994, but this is too dangerous for anyone!!! I'm a Buick lover but out here a new one runs at at least 38,000.00. More than I can afford. I've seen second hand ones and they're in worse shape than what I have. Wish me luck!!! Take Care!!!

Oh my, that is scary. I am so happy that you didn't get hurt. I used to have a Buick Century. The car would stop whenever it took a notion to do it. We couldn't igure the problem out. My neighbor who had a similar problem solved it for us. There is a plug for a senser, the senser tells the transmission something, he unplugged the plug and I never had troubles after that. I have another car that was giving us fits, the problem turned out to be a senser for the brain, it was a $20 part. We also fixed everything we could think of, and the problem kept happening. Don't you just hate cars. They are a neccessary evil. Can't live with them and can't live without them. Good luck on finding a good car, or finding out the problem with your Buick.

wow, that is a harrowing experience! I am so glad that you are unharmed. Before you get the Kia make sure to read owner reviews on them. I have heard repeatedly of dissatisfaction. Breaking down parts, noises, unsolvable problems etc. They are made in Korea and the makers do not care to resolve issues. you may wish to look at something with a more reliable feedback?

Oh wow, how scary Grandmaof2! I am so glad and thankful that you are okay, I started to get scared. It breaks my heart to say this hun, but honestly I'm not surprised that none stopped. People now a days seem to be in too much of a hurry or have numbed themselves completely from driving situations. Good luck in finding a new car hun, keep us posted!

I am so glad you did not get hurt from this episode. Buicks seem to be the vehicle of choice for a lot of people. My moms was a 94 LeSabre and she didn't have a spot of trouble with it. As far as I know, one of my nieces is still driving it. But you are absolutely correct to find another car before this one causes a devastating accident. Good luck with your car search. I ended up getting a Jeep Liberty that I really really like...have you looked at those?

Thanks for best response. Did you read the response for number 14. They had the same problem with their car and they have a name of the senser. Have you gotten a new car or is the Buick fixed yet? I hope the problem is fixed by now for you.

Well I do wish you luck even if it is three days late. LOL We come to rely on our cars so much we begin to take them for granted and when they don't run properly we are so disgusted. In your case that could have turned a very good day into a very bad one but I am glad to hear it did not. I had somewhat the same problem years ago. The car would run fine for about an hour or so then would begin cutting out and eventually die. After waiting awhile it would start again. Mechanics tried everything including replacing the fuel cap. No luck. I happened to get lucky and took it to a mechanic that knew what he was doing. Turns out there was a filter in the gas tank. It had separated and at times would clog the port thereby shutting of the gas. He removed that filter and I never had any more trouble. But that is my experience. It could be anything. Sounds close however. Best of luck to you.

Bless your heart. I am a Buick person myself. I have a 1992 Buick LeSabre that also owes me nothing. She has been the BEST car I've ever owned. I would buy a new or newer one if I could afford it too. You can't beat them. My dad and step mom bought a new one a year or so ago and they just love her. I'm sorry about your car, hopefully you can get it fixed or find a used one that is in great shape. I even bought mine used back when I got it and it's been a wonderful car. Then I meet my 2nd hubby and his mom has the very same car I have only a couple of years newer and even the same color. How is that for coincidence? Best of luck my friend.

I'm Buick all the way but as you've probably read in my remarks the Buick is way to expensive for me now that I'm not able to work. I have priced them and I would need in the high 40 thousands. Not going to happen. Thank You so much for your comments I appreciate it very much. Take care.
