The Wrong Fast Food Place

I was totally embarassed today when my friend took me to buy some take-out food. T o set the scene: I went to bed early last night with a headache that was still lingering this morning. My ankle has been aching like a toothache for almost a week now. Needless to say, I did not feel too great about having to go out today. I knew what I wanted to eat, so I asked her to go to the nearest chain fastfood place. When we pulled up to the drive through window, I requested my order. The girl said, "We don't have that here." Not understanding, I tried again. When she repeated again that they did not carry what I wanted, it suddenly dawned on me. I was at a hamburger place trying to get chicken! Once I realized my mistake I was mortified. I just know the girl thought I was crazy. I asked my friend why she didn't say something and she said that she had been trying to tell me that they only had chicken nuggets.

I would have laughed and said something like "I'm sorry... I've taken an extra dose of confused today." I've done that before. Thought I was at a taco bell and realized I was actually at a burger king. It's what I get for not paying attention, I guess, LOL.

I did apologize when we got up to her window, wiccania. I told her I was just having a bad day and she said it was ok.

Yeah, embattled, I do feel much better now, thank you. I just think you can be in such pain that it muddles your thinking sometimes.

I wouldnt worry too much about it. I'm sure people make mistakes like that all the time. Anyone who would judge you for a mistake like that isn't worth your time anyways. Mistakes happen. So what!! By the way I would probably have been embarrassed too but would have just laughed and said. Oh dang it. lol I hope you are feeling better now!

anniepa. I do NOT wanna be a worker at some drive-thru as I am scared of becoming victim of this new fad you spoke about. Not to mention, this ISN'T the first time I,ve heard of this fad.I saw a few of these on Youtube.

You know what, the employee certainly shouldn't have thought a thing of it, especially considering the awful new "fad" I saw about on TV, where people order drinks at the drive-through then throw them back into the server's face and video tape it and put it on You-Tube. Annie

It's all forgotten now, mssnow, but it was very embarrassing when it happened. The girl who took my order was very nice about it.

That's just too funny! You probably don't remember, or maybe it was only a regional restaurant, but years ago there was a hamburger place named Carroll's and their specialty "big" burger was called a Club Burger. I was in there and I ran into a woman I knew and while I was chatting with her I mentioned that I'd always been afraid I'd go in there and order a Big Mac. Seconds later, guess what I did? Yep! Another time my daughter and I were at the movies and I was torn between a Pepsi or a Dr. Pepper; I went to the concession stand and ordered a medium popcorn and a Dr. Peppy. The worst part is I turned around and did the EXACT same thing on not one, but two other occasions! It was on my mind not to do it again, so of course I did! Annie

mmmm!!! The KFC bowl, now I really understand. Those things are sooo yummy no wonder you weren't thinking straight! You'd already decided that was what you wanted so you were totally blinded by that craving so OF COURSE you didn't know you were at the wrong place! Say no more, it's totally understandable! Annie

I know how you must have felt, anniepa. I have always been absent-minded, but, I think today took the cake. I guess my brain just froze up on me. But, shucks, I really wanted that KFC bowl, LOL.

That's funny...in the embarassing sort of way. So were you at like a KFC or Chik-Fil-A or something? I was trying to figure out a fast food joint that didn't have burgers and chicken. Then i remembered them! Fortunately I usually always get chicken so I don't think I'd have much of that problem but it'd be funny to go to Taco Bell and try to order me chicken nuggets! I usually order by meal numbers, so that'd be even funnier. Cause I'd be like "can i have a number 8?" and then be so confused when I got my order and it was completely different...because it was the OTHER number 8. ha ha.

I happened to be seated on the passenger side of the car, so I really could not see very much of the menu. I should have just gotten out of the car and went inside.

I don't need the menu to know meal numbers, i pretty much order the same things. I mean, I only really ever go to mcdonalds or taco bell myself cause they're the cheapest and i'm all about cheap!

Aww you poor thing. I know when I worked in fast food I had people ask me for stuff we didn't carry all the time. It really isn't a big deal. Don't sweat it.

Thank you for being so understanding, mail. It was just that it's the first time it has happened to me. I do sometimes get confused on the drinks though.

LOL I don't think I've ever done that...of course, we only have like 4 take out places here in town so it's not all that confusing. Now in the next big town, yes, I'd get confused...they have hundreds of those places. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Poor worldwise...how mortified you must have been--I bet you felt that you wished a nice big hole would open up in the ground and you could sink into it....but I hope afterwards when you really thought about it could have a good laugh over it...I would have..after I got over the embarrassment.

That would have been really embarassing. But think of it this way at least you were at the drive thru window. It probably would have been much more embarrassing if you were inside. But you probably wouldnt have made that mistake either.

Yes, catsanddogs, my mind was really clouded with the pain I was in. I was in such a hurry to get everything done and get home. Hopefully, I won't make the same mistake again.

Yeah, that could have been embarassing. But not as embarassing as the news I heard before about this disabled woman who had no arms since she was born so she did most of her activity with her feet, eating, opening the door, drving, etc. Well, she went to a drive thru and when she was getting her order, the crew refused to give them to her because the crew said that she was offended when the disabled woman was receiving the package with her foot. The disabled woman was very embarassed and angry at that time. Who wouldn't? I thought, as I read the article, the crew at that fast food was insane.

I saw a man the other day who did the exact same thing, but he was inside the restaurant. He thought he was in a Mcdonalds, but was in another restaurant called Harveys. He was arguing with the girl that he was in a macdonald even if the girls was showing the man the Harvey's signs . I thinks he was more confuse then you lol

Oh no! I feel bad for you. Pain does crazy things to our minds, doesn't it. I have had some blank out moments myself. But if it makes you feel better, a lot of hamburger places do sell chicken as well as hamburgers. So she might have thought you assumed the place you went to was like that too.
