Do you take advantage of local parks?

I consider myself lucky to live in a place where parks are plentiful. I try and use them as much as possible. It seems at least around this neck of the woods that immigrants seem to appreciate what we have more than we do and take full advantage of sunny days in the parks. Do you use the parks around your place? Are they generally safe?

Then people complain about the wildlife in their yard eating the flowers!

How true that is. It is sad to see nature becoming smaller by the day.

Yes, there are many beautiful parks in Canada. I had been to some of the parks there during my one month visit there. My brother and his family who lives in a city near Vancouver, BC took us to some of the parks in Vancouver and neighboring cities, also in Victoria like The Beacon Hill Park which is beautiful. We also went to some picnic areas and lakes, like the Lost Lake. When we went to the Whistler and Black Comb, there are so many breathtaking view of nature. Here in Phils, I live in the city and there are some parks that we used to visit before. We just stroll in the park, the kids do bicycling and playing in the ground and there are some tables where we eat the food we bring with us. However, nowadays, going to the park is very seldom we do. Our kids, being grown up now would prefer to go to the malls.

It is hard to find a more beautiful park than Beacon Hill and Stanley Park on the mainland. It seems as kids we love parks then as we hit our teenage years we forget about nature and go to the man made structures only to realize later in life the parks are where it's at!

We had a problem around here with graphic perverted illustrations (and goings on I guess) in the parks.. This lasted for a few years. And I stopped taking my kids to them. I did write a lettter to the local newspaper but that was about it. Then they got together a neighborhood watch and police check and it's cleared out and the families are coming back.. I can see I should take my grand daughter to the parks like I used to our kids..

It is a shame when the criminals start to run a neighbourhood. I'm glad in your neck of the woods that people care enough to band together and do something about it.

I use to live in a place with beautiful parks every couple of miles. They were well kept, had ponds and places for kids to play. I miss being able to just go out and have a picnic at a park. The parks that are where I live now are to small and run down to be really considered parks.

Yes I do. There is a park near my house that I take my son to, it has lots of play things. Also we lake to have picnics a lot so all of our friend come as well to this lovely park its huge and has play equipment, bbq, tables, lots of grass to play ball, ride a bike, and a lake that we all love in summer and we all swim in.

Yep I use them. Yes they're safe. I don't go with the kids as much as I did before they got in to school though.

Seems kids get so busy they don't have time to enjoy the parks.

Nature and wood trails I seldom go to, but I do go nonetheless. Common parks, pocket parks and active parks are the parks I really take advantage of. Its good to walk around, sketch, enjoy the scenery, picnic, or just enjoy the surroundings and weather.

I love finding little hidden gems of parks around the city and exploring it takes some of the stress out of life.
