My 3-Month Review

United States
September 5, 2007 5:36pm CST
When I arrived at my last client's house I noticed a SUV parked in the lot. I wondered if my client was expecting someone to visit her. Not paying it any further attention, I dialed the office number so I could clock in and continued singing away to "Traveling Soldier, by The Dixie Chicks. Suddenly a person stood next to me and startled me. It was my supervisor. I jumped out of my skin. She laughed. She then said she was there to do my 3-month evaluation. This came as a surprise to me. I thought I was in big trouble, for what I couldn't even imagine. We entered the client's house and I started about my work. Funny part about it is that my supervisor actually started helping out a bit. She began picking the labels off some old medicine containers so we could toss them out. She asked the client how I was doing with her and she replied that I was doing a good job. After a few minutes, my supervisor left. When I returned to the office my supervisor said that I passed with flying colors. She also stated that she was happy to have me as an employee. I received a letter stating just that. It is a good feeling knowing that you are a valued employee.

Good for you!! I am glad that you have gotten such a good review. There should be more people like you working with the elderly.

I do enjoy the work. But, I not only work with the elderly. I work with younger people who are mentally and physically disabled and cannot perform their daily living skills.

Ah, too bad you are so far away as right now we are trying to get someone to come in for Brysn and none of the agencies want to because it is not enough hours. We just got approved for the Medicaid 1 waiver.

Congrats! If only my Dad had someone like you around, he would still be here today. You do such an amazing service for people,I hope you realize how rare you are. I saw such terrible things, people being treated so mean, so rudely, and so roughly that it turned my stomach. Dad would have liked you.:)

Way to go Elusive! Yes it does make one feel great when they are recognized for their hard work. Sounds like your job is rewarding in itself, helping others that cant do it themselves. So you should feel good about yourself! Congratulations!! Bay xx

I am sure they value you just as much as you deserve and I believe that this is the right job for you because each time I read what you write I can see the passion and attention you put in your job..and people can see this and elder people among the others. Let me say that I think your employees are doing a good job, too because it is important having supervisors coming unexpected in order to control one's work. I hope they give you a raise. I'm sure you deserve it. I'm really surprised that they gave you an evaluation like that without warning you first. It sounds kind of sneaky.

Raises are given at the end of the year. I hope that I do get a good raise! The evaluation is supposed to be a surprise. In healthcare you need to be attentive to the needs of your clients. If you are not, you shouldn't be working at this type of a job. I didn't have a problem with my supervisor showing up, I do my job and do it well.
