I installed Apache server 2.2 on my computer and when I typed in localhost in my browser, it just kept loading for over 20 minutes. I still can't open localhost in my browser. Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem please? Localhost won't open so I can not even see the apache success message. Please giev me suggestions. Thank you.

it sounds like you have most ports closed on your apache server, the default port is 80 so here is what I would recommend... Using the MSI apache installation start from scratch, read everything thoroughly when you install the server software. Make sure that when it comes to selecting the port, select port 80/ and 8080. Make sure though when uninstalling the original apache installation, there is nothing left in the registry or apache folder. as the commands would not be overwritten by the new install.

Thanks for your suggestion. I have done what you said, I installed apache 2.2.4_no_ssl but I still can't open localhost. Is there anyway to reset the ports on my computer? I would really appreciate any help I can get regarding this problem please.I need to use php on my computer. I have even tried xampp but it gives me th same problem. Do I have to reset anything?
