Honestly,. sometimes My Lot's reasons for deleting a discussion completely confuse me. I was checking my notifications, & found a few from a new friend. One discussion caught my eye, as it was about sport. In particular,it was written in a very clever way ; imaginiative & with comparisons to art. Basicly it was very good writing about a topic many of us like. I clicked it. Yep... it's been deleted. I went back & checked my inbox, & reread this discussion. I couldn't find one single thing wrong with it. No bad topics, no swear words, nothing. I am completed mystified.

I have asked about many of these discussions that seem to be all right and not violate the guidelines. The problem can be that some of the responses violated guidelines or the posters comments violated the guidelines. So it's not the topic itself that causes deletions all the time. I've had a discussion deleted due to others responses. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I don't think Mylot would delete anything without a reason maybe it was copy and pasted or some other break within the guidlines, I guess there must have been a reason.

It didn't appear to be copy& pasted. I can't be certain though.

Did the discussion have a referral link? If so, then that is why its gone, as mylot has stated they aren't allowed in the discussion. Was the topic clear and easy to understand? I have noticed more questions that I can't figure out what they are saying. Was the post in English, as I saw several posts in another language that were deleted.

If the topic in anyway way referred to another source for the information then a referral link MUST be given or the discussion can be deleted for copyright infringement

There was no referral link. I wouldn't say that the the topic was easy to understand,as it actually was a little complex. But thats why I chose to respond. I think people who can write interesting "prose" should be rewarded with a reply. I don't think My Lot should reward people for being simple, or even mediocre. On the other hand, I noticed later, that My Lot had deleted all this persons discussions. Mayber there is another issue that I am not aware of??

I was talking about referral links to reward sites. Several recent posts have been removed including one about Gather that had the person's sign up link.

You are doing okay so far. You obviously found out how to respond. To nstasrt a discussion, just go to the left, & where it says "start a new discussion". I think I approved you as a friend this morning so I will look out fdor any discussions you start.

I would have to send an email to mylot to find out what was the problem in that discussion and hopefully they'll send you a message back explaining what the deal is. I don't know which one it was so I can't do it but I would if I could. It doesn't make sense to have a discussion deleted for no apparent reason so I'd be asking them why.

I have emailed admin when I find another My Lotter has been abused by someone else. Or if there has been a blantant copy & paste, & a friend asks for help in contacting admin.

I only bother sending an email to admin, if it involves my discussion. I wouldn't bother with someone elses.

That's cool however sometimes friends need help in finding out why things were done that's why I suggested it. No biggy. It was just a suggestion.

Have a read through the rest of the responses to this discussion , as some people offer some good reasons as to why discussions are deleted. Thats a shame if it was your first discussion & you only joined yesterday. Try again & good luck.

The deletions of perfectly "normal" discussions are very confusing. From what I´ve read here, posts which don´t contribute to the mylot community are being deleted. Who and how a relevant contribution is determined is something I haven´t found out about yet. It seems to be rather subjective. I´ve come across discussions like the one you´ve mentioned, which were deleted even though they got a lot of quality answers which shows that people were interested in the subject. Nevertheless they got deleted.

I didn't realise that admin also decided upon which discussions contributed to My Lot, & which ones didn't. Interesting.....

Friend, the great article may have been plagiarised from someone else. Or from another site, with no credit given, and nothing of his/her own added to make it an original post.

Yes, I suspect, now that I think about it, plagiarism. It's the only explanation.

It doesn't have to be the person who started the discussion. Some people who reply say inappropriate things, or they start a fight, or they post referral links. And that is when mylot deletes it.

Yes, I discovered this earlier in a response. Most unfair in my opinion.

I wonder why they simply don't delete only the poster response. I mean, how hard would that be?

It's sometimes hard to understand why discussions get deleted but there are times that other factors also contribute to the deletion. If a member gets deleted, all their posts get deleted too. If it was a new member, they may have been deleted for reasons other than that specific "sports" post. As you got a few posts from this new member, it was probably their "next one" that got them deleted before the system even sent you a notice about a new post from your friend. I would hazard a guess that the posts were copied & pasted from somewhere else and that the plagiarism squad found it using special software or web tools specifically designed to find plagiarists.

You may well be right. They could have been copied, although I thought they were real at first. I didn't see any links in any of this persons discussions. She or he, hasn't been deleted from My Lot.
