In today's copy of the Daily Gleaner (Jamaica) while perusing the gleaner to cut out an article on corporal punishment for my boss (lawyer), I met on the article describing several instances where the Jamaican women gave their husbands/men some radical beatings for things like leaving a pipe running, leaving an egg to boil unattended and another was given a beating on his birthday with a clock. Hoenstly I had to laugh. I had to leave my desk and go for a walk because this I could not contain. Anyways, the polcie corporal who reported these incidents also said that due to "pride" the Jamaican man will not report this abuse. For those of you who dont understand our Jamaican guys let me give a little about them. Well not all but some - love the name brands, they are macho guys, they run things in life and would normally "put on lick" on the women. I for one dont condone it either way but as a child who was enver beaten by her father and beaten by brothers who got their full due from me with stones and sticks of varying shapes and sizes, well you know I would not stand for that in my old age now. Mylotters all I am saying is that I found it to be very funny to see the shoes fitting the other feet! Really! These guys they beat women for being women, for beign sensible, for being intelligent and being independent and sometimes guys when the meet me on the internet ask why I am still single! What do you think? I just refuse to be beaten by any man and if I am going to have a miserable life let me do it all alone without anyone's help! I know domestic violence has led to many deaths here in Jamaica. You see I can only talk about. So what I know how about your country? What is it like there?

Violence of any type is wrong. I remember as a little girl seeing a woman brutally beat a man. I always saw men beat women so I thought it was pretty funny, but when I got older I realize abuse is abuse and should not be tolerated by either sexes.

Well just like you I have always been seeing the men beating the women or hearing of it and I honestly found this funn because our men are the macho type and to find out that soem actually reported it was really funny to me. Violence should not be condoned but as I said I found this article very funny.

Although anyone being beaten isn't funny I just had to laugh at this - because I was picturing you having to take a walk because you couldn't contain! If my husband beat me once it would be his last time, I would leave and take the baby. There are days we don't speak, because we are caught up in our own things - just a few words here and there, but if there was any physical or emotional abuse I'd be gone - as I would expect him to be if I beat him.

Hi Artemis, I agree with you too. What I have noticed with myself in any realtionship is that once an argument begins to develop I get on the quiet side. No matter what he says he would never get a word of me. Even I the workplace I am like that. So whenever I get quiet people just leave me alone or the offender comes and apologise or I apologise if I am the offender. Domestic violence has led to may deaths of children, parents and relatives here in Jamaica and I dotn want to become another statistics in it. No hitting should be even thought about in a relationship - lets talk it out I say or bring in a third party who sees things differently and with an even fresher eye. I would do the same as you and walk out.

Domestic Violence is so bad and i am not into that. Well here in Philippines, there are some cases also like domestic violence but very rare and there are more issues here than Violence. Just politics, weather, bad scenarios and more but not violence at all. Although terrorism are still in some part of the country. Have a nice day ahead from Kiko and happy posting and earning here in myLot! Godspeed!

I have to agree with you on this. Let me tell you a little story about my best friends mother. She was a housewife/stay-at-home mom and her husband was a truck driver. Every weekend when he would come home he would accuse her of having a man in his house. I know this because i used to spend every other weekend at their house and my best friend would spend the weekends in between at my house. anyway, and after all of these accusations he would beat the living crap out of her. he would make us go outside and play and when we would come back in she would be bleeding from her mouth or nose and have bruises coming up all over. this went on for about six or seven months and one weekend the mother called my mother and asked if my friend could come over before her dad got home. she stayed with us and the next day we found out that her dad was in the hospital barely alive. he had come in and beat her again but this time when he finished and went to take a shower, she got a hammer and went in the bathroom and beat the he// out of him. needless to say, he never laid another hand on her. i think if men can dish it out they should be able to take what they get back. in my opinion, women are not inferior to men. women can do anything a man can do except fertilize an egg to conceive a child. but that's just my opinion, everybody has one. thank you for this discussion, i enjoyed it.

Thanks for responding and I do enjoy yours too. I think men just think that they are superior and their word is law and I think that is also a reason why I am still single. I refuse to be anybody's beatign stick. I alos enjoy that experience too and am sorry that it took her so long to realise that wnough was enough. Glad she gave him his just dessert though. Thanks and take care
