This is a mixture of my little knowledge and my impression: there are many islands, its capital is Manila, it's a touristic place, the main religion is Catholicism, there are often typhoons or something like that, most people are poor, economy does not develop as fast as China and it's less advanced than Taiwan, Singapore or Malaysia (I don't know why), and some people come to Italy to do house working for the richest families, and they seem kind and honest people. Is all correct?

yes! Economy does not develop that fast because government officials are very corrupt and think for themselves before their country and duty. But yes, there are lots of nice fine beaches here, they are not just as known as Boracay but trust me, they are a lot better than Boracay.

I may agree and disagree to that. Many Filipinos have no love for their country, they would just think for themselves and not for others. But not all Filipinos are like that though.

Fernando de Magallanes and his sailors were the first europeans to arrive in the Philippines. Philippines was a Spanish colony till the end of XIX Century. After the Spanish went out, the Americans stayed. In Second World War Philippines was invaded by Japan. After this war Philippines got to be independent. President Ferdinando Marcos was a long lasting dictator. His wife Imelda had got more shoes than a shoeshop has. Spanish was spoken in Philippines, but nowadays has nearly dissappeared in people's use. Nevertheles, in two or three cities Chabacano (a mix of Spanish and other native languages) is spoken by many people.
