I don't know about you but whenever i go to the doctor he/she always subscribes antibiotics. I hate taking them because they kill all your good cells as well as the bad. Does any body know any other alternatives to antibiotics when you have a chest infection?

I hate taking antibiotics a lot, but I have a heart condition, so every single time I have to have my teeth cleaned or if I cut myself too deep I have to have antibiotics to avoid a heart infection. The older I get the higher the doses. Now, I am up to 2000 mg of antibiotics the morning of my dental appointments.

Doctors should be knowing whats good and whats bad for our health. Certain diseases require immediate actions, so antibiotics do that work.(guess). There are alternatives but would take a very long time to cure.

If you actually know for sure you have a "chest infection" you may need an antibiotic. An infection is the only reason to take an antibiotic but too many people take them for a common cold or allergy. Taking too many has made alot of the bacteria to develope a resistance to the antibiotics so when someone really needs them they won't work. What I swear by since I was a child is good old Vicks Vapo-Rub. Just rub it on your chest when you go to bed. Also, any kind of hot, spicy food is good for congestion of any kind. And despite the reports that studies have proven it to be ineffective I still believe in Echanasia; if you take it right at the first signs of a cold it works like a charm. It's a natural herb. Doctors don't like to tell you these natural remedies work because look how much money they'd lose! But like I said if you do have an infection don't take chances. It could be bronchitis or even pneumonia (or turn into it). Especially if you have a high fever make sure to see a doctor. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon! Annie

if there is infection in your body system you need antibiotics in order to kill the infection. i guess there is no other alternative for antibiotics unless you strengthen your immune system.
