Today the legal president of the philippines is sentenced guilty on charges of plunder. This is the danger of appointing chief justices and justices of the supreme court.Even the appointment of generals in the armed forces is dangerous too because when you are bribed by a politician or a wealthy businessman, and you accept that bribe, your loyalty to the president is gone and you have violated the constitution. This is the story of politics in the last ten years of our divided nation longing for justice.I think it is better that the generals and the justices create a body to select their leaders. This setup of appointing top level positions determines the fate of a leader without any justice. If the generals didn't give up to the pressure of bribery, then the businessman will no longer bribe the generals, and the chief justice will be prevented of being bribed too by the businessman. This setup is design by the colonial masters to control a president and subsequently the economy of a nation. That is a reality. Please read carefully and weighed my opinion.

Nepotism is an integral part of politics, and has been since the beginning of written history (and probably long, long before that). We have to live with it, because it won't change as long as people are people.

I have to disagree with you ,if there are no manipulators,we can live without it.All the big rallies in Manila are thwarted because of the Americans giving order to our generals. We are still a colony of America, only in politics and economy.A president that will look for the welfare of its people is bound to lose in an election, thrown out of power like Marcos,or impeached although Estrada is not impeached. Why?because the Americans are looking for their welfare, and that is to profit in government deals and contracts. That is why we are getting poorer despite our abundance of natural resources, and the remmitances of the ofw's are amounting to billions,if put to good bussiness,it will create millions of jobs and revenues to our government.

Whatever country you come from, corruption is always there. May it be from the highest official of the country or just from an ordinary person doing ordinary jobs, corruption is present. It is up to us if we will allow them to bribe us. The conviction of then President Estrada for the crime of plunder doesn't mean there is injustice. The Sandiganbayan came up with very exhaustive decision. Anyway, he still has other remedies. Let's just hope the decision will be reversed if it will reach the supreme Court.

Thank you for your comment,by the way i am also trying to show that the appointing power of a president is a design to breed more corruption. It must be reviewed and cancelled for the good of a country.Did you know that Davide is appointed by Estrada, and Danding Cojuangco is the one that persuades Estrada to appoint Davide out of gratitude for his help in the 1998 elections.I'm trying to show that bussinessman have the power to install chief justice, and have the power to bribe that chief justice.
